Phoenix Univ has campuses, in Phoenix for example there is a large on near Sky Harbor(had lunch over there with my grandpa when I lost my plan ticket hah!) They have a few small specialized campuses around too, we used to do the lawns for them near me. CHEAP ########. I just dont like them anymore :)

InMyDreams, I noticed you're leaving the 15th of Oct for Swifts training, Im also leaving the 15th , but they're sending me to Memphis, best of luck man. I've heard some horror stories about Memphis, but I guess they really cracked down

Since she isn't looking to get a degree, this isn't really relevant. I did several courses through a community college, but did many of them online. Since it was a community college, had I actually gotten a degree, it would have counted. For those that don't live someplace where there is a community college or university, or can't work less than full time, the online colleges - if they are properly accredited - are just as good as spending hours on campus. Many accredited colleges are offering online degrees, as well as traditional degrees. If a person is able to learn on their own, at their own pace, why should they be treated any differently, as long as they pick the right source for their online degree. Online degrees would not work for all types of degrees.

I've looked into Univ of Phoenix and Strayer and the like -they are cheaper. I've also looked into regular universities that offer online programs (Penn State stands out) but they cost so much more. I'm divided at the moment. Penn State credits would transfer easily if I did decide to go for a degree someday. After all, there's always the possibility I won't be able to keep on truckin' till I retire.

Spend more for a better name, or go cheap and possibly pay the price down the road? Hmmmmmm.

Well I was a teacher, got a degree in it. I got mine from a standard 4 year college and only took one class online.

With some degrees, online colleges might be a good idea...Im particular in...Id rather GO to a school physically than online...so much more is learned via interaction with peers and all.

Anywho...U of Phoenix is good. Clark County School district in Vegas recognizes them for continuing work for their teachers.

My wife is going through Walden university online for her masters.

Id say go with one of those two for online stuff OR find a local or state college that offers online courses.

This is very true! I can't drive any longer due to back and shoulder problems. I have disc degeneration in two discs in my lower back that will, at some point in the future require surgery. The right shoulder has a few things wrong, none of which require surgery, but limit what I can do. I had started on a graphic arts degree, but have decided that I want to become a freight broker instead. I still love the trucking industry, and being a freight broker will keep me in the industry that I truly enjoy. There were not many classes for the graphic arts degree that I could do on line, but I did take a bunch of the ones available for online that way. As a working mom, it made things much easier for me that way.
