I am enjoying it while I can. I know it will be my last after I rock up to the consignee 3 days late.

Thats what happened with me. Took me a couple mins just to find where everything was.

Freightliner has the best trans of the bunch. The creep mode when backing is a life saver. Just a shame it has been hobbled by manual mode being disabled.

    KD5AXG Thanks this.

Yeah don't think i'd care for manual mode being disabled,it's a lifesaver running through the mountains.

Ive gotten used to it, even figured out little cheats to make it downshift when computer says "no".

Watch this space the first time i have to descend a hill in the winter though.

I was playing that game with the Volvo and the Jake brake coming down the mountains on I-17. The Jake on the KW seemed more powerful than the one on the Volvo. There were times I'd put the Jake on the Volvo and wouldn't even slow down. Had to brake hard enough to get it to drop a gear or two before it worked as well as the Jake on the KW.

    chralb and KD5AXG Thank this.

The freightliner engine brake will throw you against the seatbelt, on the highest setting it is downright viscious.

I never need to use the service brakes when descending any of the grades i have encountered so far.

I like my Volvo, but I really miss the Freightliner I had. Pulled so much better. And it was quiet too. I'll be back in the morning. No ideal where I'm headed. Maybe gatorade shuffle?

    KD5AXG Thanks this.

I'm too fat to sleep on the top. I just bought a memory foam padding for me to sleep on. It's good so far. I've had the girlfriend on the truck this past week. She loves it.
