I can agree with him too many people like to flap their gums and not back up what they say... I'm the same way I don't care what comes out of people's mouths I want to see the facts and I don't blame him too many people are like that

People are going to argue back and forth for weeks it seems over Deadheading vs. Cheap Freight. Newsflash, both answers are correct.

If the odds are in your favor in regards to turning a short cheap load quickly, and it gets you where you were going, haul it. If the amount of time on the short load is excessive, don't haul it (that is, unless you have been burning through your hours and need a short day anyway).

There is no cheaper freight than Sailboat Fuel though, just food for thought...... Sometimes though, hauling sailboat fuel is the best option between loads, other times, it's better to at least have something cheap in the box.

If you refuse to haul cheap freight based on your principles, then by all means, do so. Just don't try to force your principles on somebody else that has a different business model.

The great thing about owning a truck, you can do it however you want, and succeed or fail on your own terms.

@freightwhipper had an idea, formed a plan, and is running with it. Kudos to him, and I am going to root for his success, rather than trying to predict his failure. It would be great if more people shared their story of how they do things out here in order to help others who are considering this type of work.

All I can say is I tried to warn him before coming over to the dark side, I told him flat out not to do it. I know he likes money and there ain't much over here.

If he runs his balls off, and things line up perfectly now and then he can make some coin. But I can't imagine how he will make much more than he was. I'm doing a little better than he posted, but all income comes to one family as I don't have to pay my wife...she just takes it all.

Also I know he was bored with his routine, and wanted to do something different. That I can identify with. I can't wait to get off this board, I won't know what do with my self when I can dead head less than 200 miles in-between loads. That's a feeling Ive never experienced at Schneider.

I guess the bashing is now over, and we beat the dead head subject to death, so what's next? Want to start a ic mx13 death pool? I'll take Tenn Mans truck...he legimatwly breaks down, while whipper has trouble reading a fuel gauge!

You do know most of us here are leasing trucks through Schneider and none of us have it cheap.
That's part of the game unless you bring your own truck here.
Still the numbers work for me and is working out thus far.

I find it funny how some of you guys complain about Cheap loads but then turn around and say .80 cents loads disappear in record time. If maybe you would stop taking that cheap crap they would raise the price.

Those that make a habit of taking them will eventually stop taking them or any other loads, LOL
