I am new school so the process is one i have never encountered. Really not liking the idea of having to pick someone to do the job.

Will they have resumes and references from past employers to help me choose?. Are any of them on drugs or heavy drinkers or smokers?. Will they keel over with a heart attack leaving me with a half unloaded trailer?. If they die while unloading me am i now responsible since i employed them?. I dont have workmans comp cover and i cant afford to pay for anyones hospitalization or funeral.

The old school blows and has no place in the modern world.

Lol. It's an Army Air Force exchange distribution center so they have to go through a background check. I have never had any issues with the lumpers. Before all these major lumper services took over, this is the way it was at most places. Guys would low bid the next guy to try and get the work.

Lumpers should be outlawed. Hire people to work in those warehouses. Give them a stable income and benefits.

This is USA in 2016, no need for these backwards labor practices.

Yeah, im not fond of the lumper business model.

Most places now have a lumper service company in them now. They are employees of the lumper service company

Well, if you have two days (22 hours) worth of drive time with no recap coming you must be driving a few miles... What am I missing?

This bean counter expects his tech to work. ;-)
It keeps track of every other clock but that one.

    Just makes me laugh.
At least I'm not missing it.
