I guess this is being a grown up...

Hello food service and LTL friends,

This is a little off the cuff, but it's on my mind and well I've been very good at telling people on this forum what I think. Anyhow I never considered my self as someone who struggles with being and adult, but sometimes I find it funny when I do grown up things, because sometimes I really do not consider my self a grown up LOL!

Like that one week I had a girl friend sometimes I think I should have let that one go a little further then I did, but ehh it's over now life goes on...

Anyhow today at work, I get all done and we had health screenings today, for insurance. Anyhow that's a pretty grown up thing health insurance health screenings, well I've never had a health insurance health screening before in my life. So I'm in the drivers room getting ready to do my end of the day computer/paper work because we have to do paper work and computer work at the end of the day which I'm sure is pretty common for pretty much every truck driving job especially if your in pick up and delivery. Anyhow we have chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches in our freezer at work we also have a pop corn machine, but it's hard making pop corn you have to turn on the machine and put in the corn seeds and oil and the light has to heat up etc etc.

Anyhow I've got an Ice Cream Cookie sandwich stuffed in my face and the office lady walks into the drivers room and goes "Oh hey do you want to take a health screening." I'm such a kid it's so funny, but embarrassing at times. "I go sure." She says "Your not a smoker right?" I said "No." She goes "Well that just saved you $6.00 a week on your health insurance."

I said "Yeah I'll take a screening just um, I'll be there in a minute." She goes "Yeah you might want to put that ice cream sandwich down."

Anyhow I had my health screening they said I was "obese" of course according to there chart every single person who gets a physical is in the risk factor for being "obese" how ever cholesterol, sugar, blood pressure and every thing else I'm healthy as a government mule.

Anyhow the people who gave me the health screening were like "Have you ever had a health screening before?" I'm like health screening, that's like stuff grown ups do, I've never had one before in my life. Anyhow $6.00 off a week on my health insurance which isn't to bad, for me insurance is like I don't $14-$19 a week something like that, I don't actually think I have ever actually used my company health insurance, I've used the dental because I pay extra for that and see the dentist every 6 months, but knock on wood haven't had to use the primary health insurance anyhow saving money all over the place I give it a thumbs up!

 

I'm always way ahead on my medical card because of my left eye. Usually I try to go to a place that doesn't care to to much. Yeah I'm not real keen on getting "screenings" and like I said everyone is "obese" I could probably lose 10lbs, but that's not literally obese by any means.

The chart is a "risk factor" chart so I run the risk of being "obese" seems like a pretty broad brush to me, suppose if I wanted to it could go the other direction and I could also run the risk of being Anorexic although that's pretty disgusting, but they showed us an educational video on Anorexia when I was in 7th grade health class back in 2001.

 

We had BBQ Ribs and Curly fries for diner and I washed it down with a class of chocolate milk no joke. That was my diner tonight.

 

I know it's so weird being a grown up when I think about it, I'm like no I'm just a kid. Like that one week Kaitlyn and I were going back and fourth I was like girl friend I've never had one of those before that's like for grown ups or adults or something...lol!
