if we're in Fargo or CR at the same time I'll be happy to show you the pay stub. Shocked me actually, but then I realized $600 of it was bonus money.

The $60k figure(gross) is actually 58,800, based on my ytd earnings averaged out. Considering Jan and Feb were terrible months, I figure I make about 60k. +/- That's on a par with other driver's I talk to here.

Some weeks are amazing, some are Meh. It averages out. And I take very little home time.

A fella could take lots of Hometime and make less money because of the performance pay. But if you're over the 11k monthly you should be making on the order of 47 cpm, maybe 45.

 

If I keep up my slow pace, I'll make 55 grand. I take off a lot, and don't spend breaks at customers (unless there's a fun place nearby)

OK @supersnackbar I wanted to make sure to give your response some time to sink in before just firing something off – so I slept on it but, as the comedian famously said, “I have the right to remain silent but not the ability”.

You are constantly suggesting that drivers here are cult members or frog soup inhabitants, its condescending and makes it appear that anyone who likes to work here turns a blind eye to problems that are a part of any company rather than acknowledging that some of us are doing well here, even though there are things we would like to see improved.

I agree with you that the health care costs here are out of line, it would be a good idea if we worked with a benefit coordination team to explore creative options for addressing this, however, you fail to understand (it seems) that many here have health care provided by other means, thus one of your biggest complaints just isn’t a reality to us, and for many drivers we get along with dispatch and do quite well. And for many young drivers OTR isn’t what they thought it would be – still I would agree that we need to keep an eye on this.

When you joined Magnum you did so on the recommendation from the driver who started this thread, why didn’t you ask more drivers here about the company and do better research? There are so many drivers here who have come from other careers, some have degrees (a few have multiple) some formerly ran their own companies, a large number served our nation and others are fresh out of CDL school starting their careers. With this diversity comes turnover, it’s a part of the industry and something all trucking companies experience. If it continues at a high pace then yes something is wrong but for many of us we are earning what we need to be happy and have no plan on leaving.

I have tried to show empathy to your situation and continue to hope you find a better home in your next company, and I hope you have a good talk with Wayne and Matt when you leave, and here’s a piece of friendly advice. When I review my corporate career I acknowledge my mistakes and I would suggest you do the same here. Why with the experience you have did you fail where so many others are succeeding (getting hometime and averaging over 11,200 per month) don’t just blame Magnum, you hold some of the responsibility.

Hopefully your new home will be ready soon, until then enjoy the miles and hope you’re getting better runs...

 

If Matt and Tony corner you and ask why everyone's leaving Magnum, what would you say?

 

Because trucking in general has a high turnover. Because trucking isn't for Everyone. Some people have families they want to be with. Some ppl need 1 year experience to go local.

First I'd say thanks for all of the miles you are giving me because I'm really doing quite well this year lol.

Then to answer your question I'd ask him about the personality types we are hiring, when you look at who our successful drivers are, how are we doing on recruiting similar types. We've already discussed the health care costs, and lastly I'd say what do the exit interviews say?

I talk to a heck of a lot of satisfied drivers too, many who are not active here on the forum so that's something to keep in mind...

 

You need to be a team member and treat dispatch as if they are humans and not here to serve your every whim...you also need to learn the lanes and customers which helps you set yourself up for success.

Mature drivers with a clue to quite well here, it's really not that hard.
