Wow.... People not everyone can become a trucker, if you can't back up in school, you really think you can when you got people waiting for you to back up while waiting to get into a dock?

A lot of people lose their patients when it hits the 15 minute mark.

This is coming from a victim of poor training, dealing with waiting for a couple hours for someone to back into a clear and open dock - not just once but many times.

The last one was an England driver and his trainer, neither of them could back the truck up straight and almost hit a truck two spots over at a truck stop.

So people should give up if they can't back? I guess everyone should give if they don't succeed the first time

Sorry, still just trying to figure out why anyone "dreams" of doing this line of work....

    Some need to keep dreaming.

    Make this your mantra:

    Drive the trailer

    Steer towards the problem

Then when it does, because it will - good luck ever parking your 4-wheeler straight again! Haha.

You kinda speak like this is the hardest job ever.... I do agree that not everyone can do it, but the mechanics are easy to learn if you have a bit of sense and proper training (which usually comes AFTER school).
The patience bit... who's that on? You and your patience or them and their inability? Get out and help if you can. It expedites the process for both of you. It also gives you something to do other than stew about how bad this driver is.

My last was a Celadon driver, 6 months experience, trying to blind-side (limited room to maneuver). 10 minutes in we turned it into a straight-back-turn-around so he could approach sight side...... Some folks just need to be taught how to exercise the full potential of their space.

School is near NOTHING like real world.
Nobody is prepared for that from day one issuance of their CDL.

If you did, indeed, suffer poor training, then I think you'll understand what I'm trying to convey here.
