and yes, I believe as Ruthless said, Duck and Cover,,,,,
If it makes you feel better!!!

Im getting some work done on my fontain 40 ton mechanical. So, i grab this Talbert. I wasnt use to the way the Talbert neck disconnects. For some reason i had a rough time getting the pin to drop. Never pulled a mechanical Talbert. My fontaine is super gravy i think, but maybe im just used to it.

Any of you guys pull a mechanical talbert?

Never pulled a mechanical Talbert but they hook up the same way as the hydraulic version, the pin can be a little finicky having the hydraulic gooseneck support helps.

Yeah, thats what i was think. I did kinda like that i can pull the deck pins in, instead of going under the trailer on my fontaind and turning the loops.

JD, you think that drop pin could be rusty and not moving real well. This #### thing set for over a year before i hooked up to it this morning.

Ill be honest, im not proud of what i had to do to get the pin to drop, but it workerd.

I ended up rolling forward, let the neck lean forward enough so i could get the deck pins to come out in to the loops, then i backed up picking the trailer up and BAM, the pin droped like it should. WTF?

I oil mine every so often, it needs to be pretty square to drop I would think the mechanical would be the same.

All that backing in on those tight frac jobs with everybody and their dog's pickup parked in the way sure comes in handy sometimes, huh?

Oil field teaches you to back good. Did my first u turn in reverse around a work over rig with about 4 water trucks, spooler rig, pressure truck (I have no idea what it's called) and another hot shot rig.
