^ Yeah its pretty much dependent on your trainer how often you're home while in training. I'd say most trainees make it home for most of their weekends during training; if any trainers are like I was, they may try to hold a trainee out at least one weekend just to show them how it is--a more well-rounded perspective. (Or about as well-rounded a perspective as a trainee can have, anyway.)
Don't look for the big bucks right out the gate...that said, living in the northeast, depending on who you get assigned as fleet manager, once you "figure it out" you're likely to make a little more on average per week than guys in other areas of the country. At least that was my experience running the northeast...several other guys attested to that, too.

Busted my tail for 5 months after i got my own truck. Last 8 weeks i worked there was hung out on the weekend 5 out of those 8 weeks. I was never late on a load and ran everything the dispatcher threw at me. I lived in chattanooga tn. Pay was ok, 600 too 900 a week. Slow trucks, you cant idle trucks overnight without being penalized, get ready to tarp alot, certain dispatchers will force you to cheat on logs. I worked there back in 2011 so things might have changed by now. Moved over to boyd brothers when i quit there and it was a MUCH better experience. Trucks wasnt as nice but they treat you like your human at boyd bros, tmc your just a #.
Kgar827 Thanks this. -

TMC will not allow illegal logging as we are all e logs now. We have a lot of loads that are on the east coast. We hire a lot from Maryland and yes some from Delaware. Just remember to do what you are told and study the material you are given. I am one of the trainers in Ankeny there and any questions you have before you leave let me know.

Are you experienced, needing a CDL, or or just went through a driving school. We have a 2 week program and just pay attention and relax.

Well then you will be seeing me, just remember it's a 2 week interview, and keep a good attitude. You will spend a week with George in Orientation, then the weekend with Mike in load securement, then you come see me and about 10 other instructors for driving and backing. I also get the advanced training guys also. It's called Train the Trainer
