Unload appts changing

    I already got warned by another poster that my co reads this site. Not sure if they are a mega. It has 1250 employees according to the CSA score card I got today. Is that mega? My score rank is in the lower 1/3 of the field. Although Ive never done anything wrong. Oh well.

    Seriously here, don't take that crap personally. I bet every driver for your company gets the same thing. Real easy to hit the send button. Or it may be tied to every appointment they send out.
    I do understand how irritating something can be, but keep your cool, do your job, and things usually work out. But keeping good communication going is extremely important. And keep that communication on email or QC, so there is a record of it.
    REALLY???, Hell man, I can't begin to tell you all the things that I've done wrong!:D

    This is NOT normal. I would not put up with it if they are taking tight appointments and making them more difficult. I work for a mid-sized reefer outfit and our appointments rarely change from the original delivery appointment at loading time. In fact, it just doesn't happen unless the appointment was impossible to begin with and later gets moved back. I have requested earlier appointments, and some times I get them, some times I don't. May be your company is playing it very safe up front, then taking up slack later, but it still puts the driver in a difficult position. That's why you should always run near maximum available early on, then take a break once you arrive near destination because crap happens and delays can come in many forms making an easy trip, tight.

    Sometimes, it is assumed the dispatched truck will have 3 or 4 8-10 hour days coming, and you don't if you've been running hard leading up to the new load. They can either repower the load in transit or move the appointment.

    I am a human being, a American by Gawd Trucker not a toy to be played with for amusing to DM.

    I usually fire such a DM and find me a nother one. Maybe I quit, leaving you with at truck 2000 miles from this side of tipperary to recover. Usually have work going on next week with new company.

    Sometimes when DM fiddles TOO much, once TOO many... I deliver late.Oh? 6 AM? or was it 6m? Use military time format.... next time... sheesh.

    I agree with those who say it sux, to have the targets moved while in play. We try to plan for showers, laundry, and personal business. While in transit, changing timelines just causes more grief. It happens very rarely to me.

    But I'm still new,

    PS; you people can have this upper east coast area....

    While this is true, it is hard for a new driver to know when he is being dicked vs crap happens and that's trucking.

    At the very least he should be asking for explinations when there is a change. Then he can get a feel for what is legit vs, BS.

    I hit mine every single time! EVERY time!
    After I got loaded call in and the automated dispatch. (Routed at 55mph)

    Put I was going to scale. Then they could never hit me with a service failure ever. They HAD to ask me for a time I could arrive. It was policy. Probably is at yours to.

    If you tie the dm's hands by policy he can't do what he's doing. If the bumping the appointment times up becomes a problem.
