May I ask why you are staying on team if the rates aren't that good? Would SFI/SNI allow you to go back solo, or are you bound by contract to continue team?

Loads could all get posted, then cherry picked by planners at a later time just as they're about to confirm. That FP site hasn't been updated in years. If I was using it the sort feature would be nice, but I'd never use it to auto pick a confirmed load. Way too risky because it usually always changes.

I imagine in order to keep the 5K bonus he's stuck for awhile.

Because i am still making more money afterall, that's why.
I can go back solo whenever i want, heck the truck is currently solo with my team driver and I'm in bed in Florida. I'll be off the rest of the week then I'm hopping back in.

Problem with team isn't so much rates but rather the lack of freight.
For example on a Saturday night in Chicago Schneider screwed up on a load and had to have everyday pulled. We ended up sitting till monday because there was ZERO loads within 250 miles of Chicago.
If i was on the solo board I'd have hundreds of loads to pick from.
Schneider does have good team loads but theres barely anything to pick from.

I deadheaded home pretty much 250 miles last night...dropped at Fairless Hills Monday night...all empties were being held hostage with empty pallets...didn't want to deal with overnight, so I put in my exception and headed to Allentown to reposition to either get loads or head home. Sat on the board for hours yesterday at Lehigh Valley service plaza and finally put together an okay day for today. Told my ICA in the morning that I bobtailed up and there were no empties. Had some Workflow issues, and when I finally got everything straightened out, they sent me 60 miles the opposite way into Flemington, NJ to grab an empty. While I was pissed, figured the load was worth it and did it anyway. Got to Flemington last night and they were also holding there emptys hostage. Called overnight and the box planners came back and wanted to send me another 30 miles further out of route deeper into NJ for an empty. Before I blew my lid, I just called and had my loads pulled off for today and bobtailed back home for a decompression day lol. Not a good way to start off the pay period, but I at least found a load getting me the hell out of the NE and have some decent loads booked back to back until Saturda my afternoon.

I'm going to PM you some advice on the empties.
Other than that Northeast sucks for booking last second...
Midwest has a lot more loads, not as high rates but less bs.

Thank FW, yeah I'm seeing that from the board today lol. I'd rather run at a little lower rate on mostly flat land and maintain my sanity than run the NE non stop!

Your doing right. Pick and choose your battles. You can do well, really well running short where you live. After awhile you will figure out the customers you want to deal with. But man it's why I say, figure out a way to make money while stretching your legs a bit. I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. Your learning. Also this time of year certain customers will hoard empties and not release.

Leading up to winter holiday's customers holding MTs hostage is a thing that happens a lot more often
