I'm going to their school on Monday. Do I need to be on the phone now with flatbed? I spoke to my recruiter, who basically said I could make the decision at orientation, but if there is a chance to get the wheels turning now so to speak, I want to do so, maybe secure a flatbed trainer in advance lol.

Recruiter just said ask for a flatbed trainer. I don't think that is how it works. Could be wrong.

Well, first off, there are a few dozen ways to make sure you get it. I was hired as a Reefer driver bout 2 years ago and I simply transferred over.

As for new students, when I started they picked the division during orientation, they handed us out packets with the DM we would get after training and if you wanted something else you walked over to driver services and cleared that up.

Now as a mentor, I got my students all transferred to Reefer, my DM and the Fontana Reefer division used me as a recruiting tool. They would message me of call, I'd ask the student, #### most the time they liked what we were doing. And my DM would Handle placing in dry or Reefer, and possibly steal you for his fleet.

That being said, a flatbed mentor can probably hook you up, you may have to wait for one, there aren't many. Make sure driver developmemt knows you wanna do flatbed. Im not sure how it works for students exactly, I'm not sure if you do the securement class before or after the mentors, but that securement class is when you are officially cleared for the division, there's a securement test at the end.

Been thinking about it for awhile, finally I just pulled the trigger, and made a few phone calls. I will say while I was speaking with a Joe and Ray in Phoenix, they were very nice. Talkative too, I actually swapped a few winter stories and nightmare customer stories with Ray in Phoenix.
