    Atta Boy was too soon.

I'm stuck at a Marathon Gas station on US 23 just inside Va from Ky. Trying my best to run recap, I goofed. I got here with 1 minute left on my 70, I sit here now with 1 minute left on my 70. I, once again, misread the QC. My recap hours don't hit until tonight.

    (sigh)

Way too risky for me, not living in a truck with no bathroom or paid sick days. I don't even like eating at small mom and pop restaurants. Somehow I think my chances are better at fast food chains even if they may not be.

I've had more issues from the Mexican Phone Company and Pizza Inn than I've ever had from a tamale street vendor.

If I had a bathroom 15ft away and the liberty to call in sick for a couple days if necessary, I would be more adventurous.

My KW hack failed just now. (SIGH)

I wonder how we are supposed to keep the batteries charged in cold weather? My truck gives no warning when it will shut off. And, tending to the truck has to be logged as on duty time. :biggrin_2552:

Below a certain temp it will idle, right? If so, it's probably set somewhere around 35 for that. There is nothing to worry about at that temp. Just run it for an hour before bed and run it as soon as you get up. As far as on duty tending to the truck, BS.

Think he meant round 3 with 3 hours left on his 70. And 1 minute left when he stopped.

@KD5AXG - Are you at the Go Mart at xit 95 in Charleston? I usually figure it this way when I'm going that way. I allow extra time due to the weight of the load and my slow Volvo. 2 hours from Wytheville to Beckley service plaza. 1 1/2 hours to xit 95 in Charleston. 2 1/2 hours to the A&A truck stop on 35. Etc etc.....

That way I know where I can get to in a reasonable amount of time. And so frigging what if you stop with time left on your clock? Either you A) run 9-9.5 hours a day and don't run out of hours or B) run your tail off for 6-7 days and then have to take a 34 somewhere that may or may not be desirable. Personally, I'd rather work the 9-9.5 every day than sit if I'm going to be out here. Unless I can get that 34 at home and not have it count as home time. But that's just me. I'm sure everyone here has their own opinions. Especially if you are young or don't have responsibilities on the home front.

It's 48 here now. This truck shuts of 5 minutes after the temp hits 65. No clue what the low temp is to be able to idle again. I have heard anywhere from 25 to 35.

@RebelChick, the hack you recommended won't work on a KW.

Your bunk heater can run for 10 hours without killing your battery. If the voltage gets too low, the heater will shut off. Like I said, 1hr before bed and run it again when you get up.

Funny, but the bunk heater timer was counting down like 10 minutes, not 10 hrs. But, I most likely looked at that wrong, too.
