I was looking at the AC in the window possibly while running. I did not mean to imply that you were driving while that thing is aw never mind.

Sometimes late at night, I get to thinking to be less precise and the imagery conjured by a A/C in the window supplementing your cab factory a/C while moving down the road. yeesh. We know that's not what's happening.

    However.

You would think you could slap a RV style roof top AC/Heat pump up there in it's own enclosure and settle in to enjoy a movie or two.

I am currently in the final stages of sourcing my next truck. I have always wanted either a 379 or a W9. If I go with the generator route again,.. I am contemplating an RV style roof AC. To be honest,.. its kind of a choir lugging that thing from the upper bunk into the window,.. and then having to tilt it in humid weather to make sure all the water is drained out of it before I pull it in and try to put it back.

A roof AC or an indoor upright AC would eliminate that. The indoor units take up a lot of space and would kill bin space as I would have the fridge and microwave eating up the other side. So I would really like to make a roof mount work.

How ever,.. I like to stand up when I put my pants on,.. so as cool as I like to look at a flat top,.. I am looking for a stand up sleeper and preferably with a top bunk so I can use it for storage space like I do now with mine. Wont know until I bring it home till I know what will and wont work. I'm not cutting holes in my sleeper. I draw the line there.

It's a studio sleeper then for you. Keniworth makes some seriously nice ones, we have enjoyed a few as a team over the years. I think a W950 made one that rivaled the FLD120 if not superior to same in comfort.

Today's Volvos though, it's a freaking apartment back there. I just got done examining a 770? Owned by a forum friend who has a blue midroof that was very well done if you ask me about it.

I will never stop being loyal to mack and petes. If you can get good living space in the back of them, you got it made.

I've run several KW T660 with the 72 and larger 86" studio sleepers. I really enjoyed them.

This was inside a 2008 T660 I Was driving. Had the battery powered APU,.. KW Clean Power system.

Before the truck I have now I had a Pete 386 with the 65" stand up sleeper with the upper bunk. I found that sleeper to be ideal for what I needed it for. Unfortunately,.. the vast majority of 95 - 99 379's I am looking at all have the smaller 63" with no upper bunk. A few 99 models had the upper bunk. But none of the 99's had the mechanical specs I want.

I think I could live with a 63",.. but I would probably end up gutting the sleeper to make the most of the limited space. Not in any hurry,.. the right truck will present itself when the time comes.

Don't settle for the 63 Mr Hurst. You already stated your preferred numbers. Stick to them. There is probably a testimony that those bigger sleepers are not always available on the market to purchase because everyone likes em.

The FLD 120 sleeper has spoiled me for life. Im a telling you. But the new T2000's with the integrated ones were no complaining, I could not tell you how big those were. Obviously big enough.

By hook and crook KW is worming it's way into a place in my heart. It's working hard to prove it'/s worth in luxury. I will have a shout for the CH Mack Sleepers when they started making them I was issued one for DM Bowman in William-sport and those things were seriously nestable if that word corruption makes any kind of sense.

I will certainly miss the size of the sleeper I have now in my Columbia. Its a 70 or 72". Sad,.. but I do not know exactly. The way the roof climbs immediately starting from over the drivers head all the way back. Cubby holes and bin space galore. Yes its all cheap plastic and rattles until you make modifications to stop it. It is a Freight-shaker after all. But very easy interior to modify and make your own. Large bed on the bottom bunk. I'm a big guy and my wife and I were comfortable sleeping there together.

I'm not exactly thrilled at the idea of getting an older truck, knowing what I will go through getting all the gremlins, lack of maintenance, quirks and modifications out of the way before the truck will become reliable and suited to my needs. But this is trucking and a newer truck is no guarantee I would be free of those things anyway. That and I am still set on never going with Elogs as long as I have an option to avoid them. How ever,.. I did some research on elogs and discovered they allow O/O's to modify elogs the same as I do paper logs now. So I am not as fearful of elogs as I once was. My biggest fear was not the loss of miles,.. I dont run long hard miles now,.. so not a concern. My issue is being able to stop and sleep when I want,.. and then being able to pick up and drive when I feel rested. I know my body and believe me,.. I didnt buy all these things in my truck just to sit back there and enjoy the ride. I like my sleep and I like operating at my own pace. Not what someone else thinks is a good work schedule for me.

It's a 2500 watt inverter, battery charger and shore power swich. It supply's all the 120v power. It runs on the batteries until I start the gen then automaticly switches to the gen AND charges the battery's. When I turn the gen off then switches back to battery automaticly.
