    Hi all
I recently added a used 2015 kenworth t680 to the fleet. 13sp manual 500hp with cummins isx15. The truck came with two fuel gauges and two fuel tanks. I've only ran dual tank and one fuel gauge before and now im kinda confused on how these 2 fuel gauges work. I checked with dealer and no body seem to have any experience with these. I was told there are two sending units on this truck and these two tanks will not equalize. My question is will it start draining from the secondary tank once the primary goes completely empty? I dont want to take the risk of running one tank dry just to test if the other will come on, also once the primary or secondary goes low the computer will not stop reminding you to refuel the empty tank. Please advise if any body out there have experience with these type of setups. Thanks a lot

Just to get you started, how I think these work is that the truck draws from and returns to each tank at the same time. They are supposed to be self equalizing, but either a vent is plugged, or there's another issue such as a plugged junction valve( if it has one). I for sure would not take the chance of running a tank empty. I'm #### sure they're not designed to work that way.

Thank you for the info, yeah I can't risk running it empty lol. I'll probably test it and see if it actually decrease fuel level on both gauge during my next trip and if not I'll take it to a shop and have it checked out

Good idea. I actually really like the idea of a gauge in each tank because you can see at a glance whats going on. All too often when there's a problem with equalization you don't find out til you go to fill, or take the cap off the non-gauge side, or you stop for a walk around, and there's fuel running out of the passenger side overflow even though your driver side tank is way down. (This last one always makes me crazy).

A switch to check level in each tank, with a sending unit in each tank, and sharing the same gauge is nothing new. It is not real common. Trucks today are duel draw duel return. If either one runs out you are out of gas, I mean fuel. Duel gauges is new to me and there maybe other changes.

Really?? The dealer couldn't help you with this question? They draw from both all the time. Just saves you from having to flip a switch to change the gauge from side to side. As you fill it you should see them going up together pr independantly if you are filling one side at a time.

The two gauge fuel system the small the large tank will drop about a 1/4 to half then the bottom quage will start to drop till the 1/8 mark below half then the top quage will run down to empty the red lite will come on and your bottom gauge will be showing between just below half or too the 1/4 tank mark you can drive with out worry till the red lite on the bottom gauge also comes on but make sure your real close to a fuel stop so don't worry about running the left tank dry it actually will still have a bit of fuel in the tank won't run completely dry it took a while for me to figure it out as well
