Hope it's not too fast, we still have to move lol. I just hope we have enough time to get everything moved, starting to pack up just in case.

Would the presence of a driver facing camera have made the situation better or worse in the Tracy Morgan accident case? Very likely much worse. One of the scary things about putting these cameras, both forward and driver facing, in our trucks with drivers who do not currently use their own cameras such as myself and others is that it could begin to expose some very unsafe practices currently unknown to Bentonville. My safety manager knows I have a camera. He liked the model I was using so much he bought the same one for his vehicle. Because he knows I use a camera, in the event of an accident he will want the data from the camera. One of the more positives things about the forward facing camera is how is changes the way I drive. Not that I was ever driving unsafe. It just keeps me more focused on doing the job safely every second. The peace of mind is that if someone else does something to cause a collision the camera will likely show I was not at fault.
Will these driver facing cameras cause more driver turnover? Maybe. The impact may be felt more in reduced productivity as drivers who are cutting corners on safety may have to rethink what they are doing when a camera and microphone are observing. -

So the camera are on a 6 month pilot program. 4 DCs were selected plus any volunteers. To types of camera are going to be used. The smart drive camera system which is both out facing and driver facing is on a continuous loop. It only records Durning an accident, critical event or the driver can push a panic button to make it record. It saves the last 10 secs and the following 10. It is then reviewed by smart drive before it is even sent to Bentonville. Smart drive reviews the footage and scores it. If you hit a bump and it's triggered, they won't send it because there is nothing to show. The camera will go into hibernate 15mins after the truck is shut off. Your curtain will cover the camera. Only safety managers, GTMs, and senior safety managers will be given the reviewed footage. This is what I remember about the one system.
Now, in my opinion (which really doesn't mean a whole lot) if they want to put these in all the truck's, which they will, so be it. We have two options. Deal, or don't let the door hit you on the way out. Remember, there was back lash from when they wanted to switch to e logs. Back lash about the phone policy. This is just another challenge for all of us. I think we can most all agree, it's their truck.
I am going to deal. I enjoy where I work. -
