Tried the Montgomery's Steakhouse in Spiceland, IN that everyone is always talking about. I was slightly concerned about going into a steakhouse wearing shorts & Crocs, but was too hungry to let that deter me. I found my worries were baseless as it was real laid back. Sat in the bar where there were multiple TVs and a karaoke setup (though it was shut down). I had the ribeye with baked potato and a salad. Very delicious, and the potato was HUGE. Took the leftovers with me & about to chow on them now. Great place! Thanks for the previous reviews.

 

While in Wilson NC, I got unloaded just in time to hit the Parkers BBQ lunch rush. I've eaten Parkers dozens of times since childhood. Parkers is worth reviewing on here because they have truck parking. Not sure about overnight though. It may not be the absolute best eastern nc bbq I've had, but it's up there. *Disclaimer* In eastern NC, BBQ means whole hog picking or chopped pork shoulder.. end of list.. It isn't ribs, briskit, chicken, or anything else. All that other stuff is great, just not what people in eastern NC refer to as bbq.

I had a bbq and fried chicken combo with brunswick stew (no self respecting eastern nc bbq would be without it), slaw (vinegar), boiled potatoes, corn sticks, sweet tea (best crushed ice I know of)

Take Out has its own door on the side. Cash Only!!

 

No need for sauce - it was seasoned great!

 

I really like that place.
Karaoke night is Friday's. A lot of locals and a fun time...
I was just there on Sunday. I had the Porterhouse, broccoli and a loaded baked potato....

 

I didn't realize you could get more than butter/sour cream on the potato! I'll do that next time. I was going to say the place looks like it could get pretty exciting on the weekends. I'll definitely be back. Anything other than the steaks good?
