Personally, I read all this crap about the so-called "good" companies like Schneider...and then wonder to myself, why all the negativity regarding the teamsters and union drivers... lol. More and more, I lean union... and wonder why good people allow themselves to be treated like this. Just my opinion... some people are into abuse I guess.

The cost is something around 4500 bucks. Not bad for learning a new career and a skill that will make some good money

Not even Harvard U charges you a grand a week to learn a new career.

I have been through to cdl schools one in 89, and another in 97. Both times the industry was claiming they had a huge driver shortage and outfits like Swift , and Pumpkin where trolling the unemployment lines, welfare offices and soup kitchens looking for fresh meet to put through the grinder.

I can take a guy/girl off the street and teach them 2x's more about driving OTR in a week then these schools will teach you in 4 weeks. I have had a couple of jobs that did not charge their employees to learn skills needed to further their careers. I am currently taking advanced Hazmat training through my job at a trade school in the area free of charge, Why? because the company sees it as a investment in their company to have well trained drivers.

OTR company's get over on their newbies in so many ways and this is just another. The statement above and many I read from newbies who are brainwashed by these outfits and have no clue is why they still pay for half the hours you put in on the road. They seem to believe just about anything these company's tell them. And think the guys that know better are bashing the company's when they tell them the truth of the whole game.

Hi there inthewindaz! Just wondering how can I go about joining the union or teamsters and find out more about them. From your quote above sound like they treat adults like adults and with a certain degree of respect we deserve. I lean union too. Where do I join? :biggrin_255:

how did you not know that this was against the rules?!?!?!?!?!:biggrin_25516:

could you not "go without" long enough to finish your training? i can't believe this. your inability to follow simple guidelines makes schneider a bad co to work for?

lol. No you can't! Their rule was their rule, whether you liked it or not. You did not follow it and as such, got the boot.

Interesting how you then ask a question about unions.

This is just pathetic. Seriously childish in itself. You can't follow directives, get the boot and then say they treated YOU like a college student? You are whining. Did you think that they would just brush it off? A college student, believe it or not, KNOWS that if drinking is against the rules, and they get caught drinking, that there will be consequences.

I mean...are you going to rob the next bank you see that has a sign saying "dont rob this bank?"

An independent person knows that if they mess up, there will be consequences. I like how now you are looking for a job where your ability to not follow policies will be tolerated.

And yeah, like InYourDreams mentioned...can't you go for a couple of weeks without a glass of alcohol? By getting on here, you make it sound like you were sitting next to a fire drinking a glass of bubbly while watching the european stock markets and smoking a fine cuban cigar.

For my own humor...Id like to know which of the 14 days you decided to go out and get a bottle of liqour.

    Ok to settle the problem

#1 you were in the hotel room paid by Schneider

#2 you broke the no drinking policy you did not bend the rules a tad you broke one.

#3 It was your lack of better judgment that got you sent home for drinking one or two classes or even one sip you still broke the rules.
Alot of company's have a policy no drinking within 12 hours of being on duty.

I had a hotel room next to a restaraunt that had a bar in it well I went to the bar side and had water and looked at the menu for the food prices but I did not drink.

There was a older more experinced driver from that company there and he said be careful the company may come in here and accuse you of drinking I said that was fine I would stick my glass up to their nose and tell then to sniff then tell them to ask the bartender if I was served any liquor.

#4 Why does Schneider have to put your CPM in writing on the school contract?

#5 You are not hired by Schneider just becasuse you are attending their school you have to be able to obtain your CDL with all of the required endorsments.

#6 To say being treated like a dorm room child If you do not want to play by the company school rules then maybey you should of not gone there.

It sounds like you have a drinking problem if you can not go without a drink for 4 weeks.

You knew the rules and still decided to break the rules becasue you wanted to drink a glass or two of wine.

Then you come on here a whine about being showed the door for your mistake.

    BINGO! lol. Very good point!

You are not and WILL NOT be hired on with SNI unless you complete school, OTR training and their final SQT or whatever test AND get your CDL. Complaining about the CPM is silly because on Day 1, you are still like a month away from getting hired on with them, IF everything goes right.

Also, SNIs school is seperate from SNI if I remember correctly.

What part of "small miscalculation on my part" did you miss? :biggrin_25519:

it's the way they reacted to it, or may I put in, "overreacted" to it, that I was concerned with.

No one person should be disrespected the way they disrespected me, (calling everyone in to witness the infraction, teammates and staff alike) - I mean really, as if I was some kind of degenerate.

I also never said they were a "bad" company to work for, I couldn't make this claim, I never worked for them.

As far as "going long enough" If I had of known they were that strict I would have gave it a second thought and had a Sprite instead. It was nothing really that maybe a slap on the hand and "we really meant what we said" could of taken care of. Anyway.....

Why such the angry face InMyDreams? You never made a slight miscalculation before? :biggrin_25517:

I have my CDL since 2006 with all endorsements. I agree with you on one point, I should have not gone there :biggrin_25512:
