Ummm,,,,,, no. I run on the governor when legal. It's the way I drive that's gotten me where I am today, over 4 million safe miles, 1.7 million of them with WalMart( all safe and accident/ticket free), my last and only chargeable accident was in February of 1978. And I won't make any money? My bank account says differently.

I run at 63. I am comfortable with my ADP. I am not in a rush ever. What is your MPG weekly average? I have only had one critical event in one truck in 3 yrs and 4 months. I don't have to drive the fastest or slowest.

Driving slower on the big road doesn't make you look like a rookie. It shows safety minded fuel saving drivers. 65 vs 63 gets you there a few minutes slower but you will have a better MPG because of it.

Some of us that have been around a while remember the old( and probably still in effect?) company policy of 1/4 mile following distance of another company truck. And no passing a company truck unless on a hill- empty vs loaded. And you wouldn't pass another driver, at least as a new driver, because you never knew who would report you to the company.
As a mentor, I tell new drivers, don't chase the money, let it come to you.

I am that way. I don't chase the money. No need to. Anymore and I would be working too hard for it. Again, we are not in a rush, no hot loads here.

You and me are going to get rocks thrown at us for using common sense here, but please atleast do the speed limit if conditions permit. It's a different world out here than 15 years ago, let's not cause someone impatient behind us to do something stupid because we're trying to achieve mpg nirvana going minus 5-10 mph slower.

Do you understand " speed limit" ? It is the maximum you MAY drive, not what you MUST drive.

I'm in a good mood and ready to stir things up. Please tell us " old folks" how it's a different world now.

Well I do respect the following distance but if your not doing the speed limit I will pass you and that's that . I ain't running 60mph on a 65 mph highway just because someone else chooses to.

I don't want to get all bent out of shape arguing over this. Just don't like anyone calling any of us rookies cause we choose to drive slightly less than the speed limit. That's all.
