i believe digital will be better because station can imbed more information in signal.people are just scared of change.of course there will be kinks to work out, once that is done,i believe everyone will see the benefits.

Digital is line of site, and suffers from a loss of signal strength after 25 miles. Tall buildings, trees, hills, truck being parked in a low lying area, such as a truck stop below Interstate level, will all decrease available stations and picture quality.
The antenna is different also, more like a UHF antenna, but a regular antenna may work.
I can get several stations at my house now with an antenna when the cable is out. I went to a website(name I can't remember)and plugged in my street address, which would tell me which stations I can expect to receive.
The result: a weak signal on PBS, and a local station that only runs homegrown religious programs and shopping networks.
If I moved four miles away I could get appx. 15 channels. Not very well, but I could get them.
This is all to make everyone get cable or sattelite, and to also sell a boat load of TVs.
So much for progress. -
ok here is the deal not necessarily better but at the same time not worse its just different all transmitted data is line of sight the differences are, with analog if you wanted to broadcast farther you just cranked up the wattage on the transmitter and bounced the needle off the stops on the right side of the gauge and presto the signal went farther and as you exit the transitions range it fades out gradually and turns to snow with digital the same is not true the more power you try to push the more signal degradation you receive think of the dummy with the turbo echo the more he turns up the echo the harder it is to hear him because hes just talking on him self the only way to combat this is unfortunately to go out and plant more towers to broadcast farther and as you leave to transitions range with didgital you have it you have it and now you dont its as yes you do or no you dont kind of thing as for the equipment what you have now is just fine antennas and tvs but just like with your radio in the truck it only works as well as you worst piece of equipment lets it so if the coax from the antenna to the HD receiver suck or your antna is all jacked up you signal is going to suffer if it dosnt have a HD receiver bilt into your tv then you ether need to go out and buy a HD converter box or buy a new HD T.V. but here is a word of advice on that wait wait wait.... why you ask well just go back and look at the price trends on HD tvs and youll see that the prices have been falling and the first obstacle has been crossed on the next big price drop. mandatory HD tuners in all current and future tv models the next will be to deplete the current inventory of analog tvs and the next/last foreseeable price drop will come within 6 months or so of the hd switch

explain how the digital signal is worse since it is modulated at the same frequencies as regular TV = these stations are not putting much power into their HD signal due to power costs.
All the more reason to just buy the converter box and wait until these stations start pumping their HD signal at full power.
If you can get the HD signal the picture is crystal clear. I get PBS (32) and Ch26 (NBC/ABC?) at home in HD. -and I only have 1080i -
badsey try again ill explain it again think of the digital signal as a sound wave from the horn of a amtrack train siting still imagine the sound now when you turn up the wattage on a digital signal it becaumes like the sound of the same horn on the amtrack when its doing 70mph the sound coming out of the horn has not changed but because the train is moving the sound waves are stacking up on one another making it sound as if the tone has changed but it hasnt its more along the lines of its been compromised that the simplest way to explain it the more wattage you push the more noise/garbage gets into the signal which would actually decrees the range not increasing it, they are at full power now. and as for your comment "and i only have 1080i" dont get it, you have a HD tv (1080i=1080 integrated horizontal rows of pixels)
