But it will be flatbed right?
I'd consider flatbed as long as I didnt have to chain and tarp lol
Rates have been dropping.

That's too much work for not enough money.
I did ok this week considering the way the rates and freight is but it's way more work than I like.
I'm not lazy mind you however I want to work smarter not harder.
I may not earn as others do but I'm ok with that, I've been here so long I like the easiness of the program not working myself to death.
650 miles under I load as opposed to 650 between 3 loads is more my style or preference. I run hard but dang these short hauls drain my energy and enthusiasm.
Like I said it's way too much like work!scythe08 Thanks this. -

I would go to flatbed only for the reason of wanting to do that work. Low rates are not only a Schneider thing, It's an industry thing.
There will be a considerable investment in equipment and a longer learning curve. I moved from Schneider to Landstar last May. Cost me thousands out of pocket to get set up, and a lower revenue for several reasons. Orientation time, set up time, learning time, plus some other unavoidable revenue interruptions.
Also, you will need to put in time and graduate to qualify to haul any oversized loads.
Overall, the profit difference so far is major (lower now).
However, I do not regret the move. It is an investment in something that I want to do. I find it challenging and dynamic. I like it, and I expect to gain back my profits over time.48Packard, drvrtech77, Home_on_wheels and 2 others Thank this. -

We lived in Navy housing (dad was a sailor) but in the early 70's sailors were treated terrible so he moved us to a safe neighborhood (robin hood).
