Yeah but God forbid you get there 1 hour and 30 minutes before your appt time they will tell you to come back at your time.....wait in line then "you're late."
I have found it depends on the DC...they are all different. I used to deliver to a wm somewhere in Ohio often enough, back when I ran way harder than I should have. Always on time til one time I had to pull over to sleep. Overslept and was 2 or 3 hours late. Explained to the guard ...told him the truth...he called in and they said bring it in. I was so tired I didn't care if they told me come back tomorrow and I think they could tell that.
Just call ahead as soon as you know you will be late. That's why we have phones. Don't just let it hit the fan.

You shouldn't have your pay deducted at all as a company driver.
No honest employer of company drivers would ever deduct a driver's pay for anything aside from mistakes in calculating miles or over-payment.
Even if you agreed to pay anything to a company as a company driver, like if you damaged something on the truck, then they still shouldn't deduct it from your check and you should never agree to that.
An owner operator could get his pay deducted for being late depending on several factors. -

I can't remember. I went to maybe half a dozen of them on somewhat regular schedules and they mostly seemed reasonable.
The only time they really gave me a hard time was at I think Olney il. Guard took forever with trucks in front of me ...checked in 1 minute late. 9 hours and reload gone on a Friday. After that I requested to stay on the oh/pa runs mostly. A lot of people hate on Wm DCs but they were consistent with me.... usually no more than 2, maybe 3 hours at most past appt. Pretty good in the reefer world. -
A huge amount of companies just do drop and hooks at Walmart DCs. They have charge accounts to pay the $50 unload fee. I used to drive for one. But my last company was mostly live unloads. They did do drop and hooks at the Bentonville DC but that was all.

What gets me is in the reefer business, many shippers can hold you up not only hours, but sometimes 12-24 hours, I.E. "one day" and still your company or the broker is still pushing you to make a 2400 mile run "on time." I've had brokers on the phone asking "So, what can we do here to make this happen on time?" Really? So I'm supposed to break a dozen federal laws because your shipper can't get it together? "OK, have Barbara Eden "blink" me to the receiver and we'll be all good."

There is a grocery warehouse in Richmond I think it is a Supervalue property. They did at some point in the past only do receiving at night. After I paid the lumpers I got a door assignment. I always just went to bed. Never really mattered when I got there. I always seemed to get finished around 4 to 5 AM with just enough time left on my 14 to get over to the TA.

You are never late.
If you have a valid reason and WILL be late because of it (Such as out of hours at max 70 30 miles from reciever...) for gods sake call in quick and make a new appointment or have dispatch grab the load off you.
Lateness is considered service failure. Service failures is fuel for firing. You can expect not to be hireable for a while. That load will be on time. If you are weak in time versus distance, remember that 600 miles a day is a good rule of thumb for a single driver and 1500 a good rule for team.
Then consider the hours to load, fuel and run the trip and arrive. Consider the weather. This morning it's Binghampton, Rochoster, Williamsport and east that have a bit of winter weather as I write this. You need to be aware of the Nation so that you can work around problems and not be late.
There are penalties for being late. As the bottom man responsible for being on time you are it. And expendable. Excuses? Forget it. Don't bother bleating them. It will only show you as a weak personality.
