That little Spike right around 5000 Hertz is what will completely set this microphone apart from all the other stuff since the hissing sound at the letter s is precisely right at that spot.

Why the change in heart? You started this whole thread having nothing good to say about the 198 based on marks video but now you have to purchase one. You are allowed to change your mind after further investigation, I hope it lives up to your expetations, and I wouldnt be to concerned about it breaking they are built pretty solid, and just because amazon is selling it cheap doesnt mean that it is made cheap.

I never had one or used one before. Mark said when they first came out they were total junk and inconsistent and he says the ones I have now are totally consistent every time

I guess I dont always make purchases based on word of mouth or others recommendations, sometimes I will just buy and give it a try. In this case I did read the article on Cbradiomagazine, and he did say that the 1st generation 198s had a muffled sound so ranger added a 4.7k resistor and 0.022uf capacitor to make them better. So maybe when Mark told you they were junk, he must of been referring to the early versions and not the new and improved.

I coulda told you that. There's a reason I keep consistently going back to mine.

@rabbiporkchop , so what am I gonna do about my 602? I was getting close to ready to get a cord to wired to a 4 pin. I love my SRA 198, so should I put the 602 back on the shelve ? Once you get your 198 @rabbiporkchop, let me know what you think.

I would go ahead and wire up to 602 and see what you think
