The doctor that said you should get bypass probably has some financial incentive.

Surgery always has the potential for complications. Why take the chance if you can lose weight the natural way?

My neighbor had that sugery she was like 200 lbs overweight..She was over here a month ago wanting to know if she could have the walnuts from our tree i didn't even recognize her.She has a bunch of loose sagging skin every where. But for her it worked and she feels much better.it is a risky surgery and you need to be in good health before you have it done.

Any surgery has risks. Weighing 300 pounds has a lot of risks.

I know but the success rate is greater if you're healthy when getting the surgery.

I hope the OP knows this is not a specific comment directed at them but a generalized comment about the question. I had surgery (Orthopedic) last year. Before the surgeon would even go to the next step he told me a a matter of procedure he would not do elective surgery of any kind without a 2nd opinion. Any physician worth a #### will tell you to go get one. Then YOU THE ULTIMATE JUDGE ON THE MATTER DECIDES. As to your question I suggest you get a 2nd MEDICAL opinion. However surgery or not you MUST make lifestyle changes. Just simple things like parking far away from the truck stop. Skipping a meal if you can't not find non garbage to eat. <<This one really pisses people off sometimes because they feel it is a sin to skip a meal under those circumstances. I know a driver whom lost OVER 150 pounds by just doing a lot of walking eating much much less and drinking lots of water. This guy went from OVER 350 pounds to a better 200 pounds in about a year. He told me his blood pressure has dropped way down, he no longer needs those pills and while his company still wants yearly physicals he does not dread them like he once did. He also went from being a type 2 diabetic who's blood sugar was borderline of control to someone that no longer takes any meds for control. IT CAN BE DONE, many drivers have done so. However and @Ridgeline touched on this with his last comment it is not easy given the sedentary lives we truck drivers are forced into. 99% of the truck stops sells garbage. So many drivers look for those quick snacks and get those huge 1000oz sugared drinks 2 or 3 times a day. I can't tell you how many times I have left a truckstop on foot and walked to a diner and had a salad and maybe a steak&eggs before I went to bed.
