The happiest truckers I have ever met are the ones making good money. They are willing to put up with the other BS as long as the check is good every week.

I made good money staying out longer etc. Why are those drivers not here. When there is a lot a members here who share my same thoughts. Trying to remember what thread that was. But anyways whatever floats your boat. Glad there are drivers getting paid hush money to put up with that mess.

Why do they have a new orientation class every week if they are full of lifers there.

Never said they were the perfect company. They do have turnover. Like i said Averitt is great for some, not so great for others. Let them make their own decision.

My advice is dont think twice about anything with the orientation...you just gotta chill and watch some videos they tell you about averitt youll get uniforms sign stuff, assuming youre fresh outta school no road test or anything. and youll stay in a nicer hotel and they have good food.

If your one of those dudes that wants to make as much money as possible starting out any company that stays regional home on weekends will limit you a bit.

Good post. That is what alot don't understand when they first get into this job. Most of the jobs where you are home every weekend will limit your pay. Now saying that it depends also how much money you have to make to survive.

yeah...all those loads going across country are out for you plus Thursday when they are only looking for something getting you home youre limited. thats why youll average 2000 with a company like averitt instead of maybe 2500-3000 staying out and going anywhere.

Plus, you are normally home for a 34, its not like you get a whole weekend its not worth it, goes by way too fast, going out for weeks and staying home a full week is much more rewarding to me now.

I've been with Averitt, on a dedicated account, for 17 years. I was able to leave OTR at another company to be home daily, have weekends off, get paid hourly, have great benefits. I find Averitt to be fair and predictable. I'm a bit tired of doing the same thing over and over, I'm not OTR. I'm always looking for other opportunities. While I can and do complain about things I wish were improved, I am sure the company would not be running as smoothly if I were running it.

The thing I've seen with OTR drivers out of the nearest terminal is OTR means delivering very early in the morning then waiting for a dispatch until about lunch or later and then having to rush your behind to make the next early morning delivery. I know drivers that work out of one big terminal that don't get over 2000 miles a week and some that work at much smaller terminals and get tons of miles and get home on the weekend.

If you are, or can be, a boy scout you can fit in pretty well. There's no monkey-business with your paycheck and benefits.
