Many of them are sold to third world countries, or poorer countries in east Europe, where they replace even older and dirtier trucks. There are global and more local environmental aspects. What comes out of the exhausts of cars and trucks is mostly carbon dioxide and water. Carbon dioxide is not poisonous but it is a greenhouse gas, so that is a global environmental aspect. However fine dust and nitrogen oxides etc. have more local environmental aspects. They are bad for your health, and very much unwanted in densely populated areas like cities. That is why the emissions standards have focussed on those aspects. In the coming years the carbon dioxide emission (= fuel consumption) will be targeted.

Of course, that's what you get when you don't do anything to prevent that.

I looked at that, but as I understand this it is targeted at small companies, and not really on trucks as such. You should have regulations that makes it interesting for all truck owners to use clean and fuel efficient trucks.

It's not difficult to find reading material on this subject.......

Sure, but look at page 4 and 5 of this report. Not bad for a socialist country that's almost collapsing.
And before I forget, New York was founded by the Netherlands West Indies Company as New Amsterdam. Oh yeah, and the Netherlands was the first country to officially recognize the US, and it completely financed your first annual budget. Not to mention three US presidents of Dutch descent, Martin van Buren (who spoke Dutch at home), Theodore Roosevelt (whose grandparents spoke Dutch at home) and Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The presidents Harding and Bush also have Dutch ancestors from their mother's side.

    I remember that incident.

I say buy em bigger and more filthy in gas mileage. Take up two lanes and piss em off even more.

Ive driven hummers before, they are nice. Espeically the original H1's if you can find em. Do not whatever you do make the mistake of buying H3. This assumes you live in a area where there are no warm fuzzies ready to vandelize your stuff.

    SIGH....

Ok. You are in truck number one. Driving the thing.

Trucks number two through five are following behind you under electronic control robot style, monkey see monkey do. Whatever input you place onto your shifting, steering, braking etc etc etc etc is instantly transmitted to the rest of the robots following you. They already know where they are on GPS and what to do when you do a turn, they will copy that exact same turn you made.

If you scrape the trailer on a pole in that turn, trucks two through 5 are going to copy that turn and scrape that pole exactly the way you did it.

    That's platooning.

Aussies call it a Road train, only they use 5th wheels to hook em all. Dispense with that electronic crap.

Platooning, You are driving 5 trucks. Not just the one. Do you understand?

Only person talking platooning was Ceasar . He was talking about our old dirty trucks . I show him the very first of a new model , who's emissions are a fraction of their best .

Heck it's emissions. Are well under one of our older "dirty" trucks that the exhaust was cleaner then the air going into the intake .

Cut emissions? That's easy, Take ten American Tractor trailers with loads. Sell the 9 tractors. Buy 5th wheels until you have now hooked up all 10 loads to one truck and driver. Aussie Road Train.

Or stick it all on the train, get robot battery electric slaves to deliver the beer 100 miles away from same.
