Redcoatswife:
I am so sorry to hear about the difficulty your hubby has been having at Covenant. I do know that there are NO repercussions for contacting the training manager and changing trainers there. One of my son's co-drivers did that twice until he got a manager that worked for him. And Shannon was really good about it. I would encourage him to do that before leaving the business for good, since it is probably the trainer situation and not big trucking overall that is the problem.
Also, two of my son's co-drivers quit during the 6-month teaming period. One had a different job to go to (a solo dedicated acct at a local company) and the other just said he wanted to look for a job close to home because he was in a new relationship. Neither one had any problem with Covenant screwing them for money or putting false stuff on their DAC. And in the case of the latter driver, he came back to the company after 3 weeks off because he didn't have enough experience for a local job. Not that Covenant doesn't sometimes screw drivers who quit (I don't know one way or the other), but in these two cases the drivers waited until they were back in TN at the terminal and gave their notice there. So, if that's what your husband wants to do then I suggest he be up front with them and merely tell them that he found that the company was not a good fit for him. That leaves the door open for him to go to a different company if he decides to later on down the road.
In any case, I wish the best for the two of you.

I have BTDT, only I was dealing with this kind of BS long after my hubby had finished training and moved on to another company. He kept requesting hometime, and they were keeping him gone 6-8-10 weeks at a time. He was really getting a pile of BS. Until one day I had had enough. YES, I CROSSED THE LINE AND CALLED DISPATCH! My husband, like yours is very non-confrontational, and would quit before he would cause anyone else any inconvenience. Well, I got that mess straightened out real quick, and everyone learned real fast to respect me. To this day, despite the fact that I do not drive, every company he has ever worked for treats us as a team.
Crossing that line is a hard call to make, but in your case I would. It just MUST be done with Grace and Class!
(((HUGE HUGS!!!)))AfterShock and Lurchgs Thank this. -
And now The Weather Lady storms in with her comments.
Proof positive that this IS THE truckin' site with the best of the best posters.
And to know that this wealth of information is free for the asking, .... well, that's just coconut icing in a triple chocolate cake.
Got milk?
Thanx GuysLady!

I mean no disrespect to anyone here and while being as gentle as possible to all concerned, if someone is too meek to stand up for themselves, especially if they are being, quite frankly screwed, a loved one may have to step in and handle the situation, whatever the outcome.
Will certainly not render the best possible result, but might delay the slaughter.InMyDreams and AfterShock Thank this. -
"When it affects the future of you or one of your loved ones you have every right to ask the tough questions and demand the full answers!"
My hubby has always been the meek one, though he has now learned to do most of this stuff himself. I have always been the meaner one. Though now I am getting some rest...AfterShock Thanks this. -
I could tell right away that you're a meanie.
You GO girl!
Stand By Your Man...........:smt057:smt058
In this day and age of throw-away attitudes, YOUR attitude puts YOU well above the so-called, "average" wife and partner.
Your hubby is fortunate.
That's my opinion.
Others might agree.
Or not.
And IF not, ....... SO what?
Throw THEM away.
Little to lose, and a LOT to gain.
Am I wrong?
Again?
GuysLady Thanks this. -
I think redcoat is afraid that the company will just show him the door. That is why he does not really want to call and ask for a new trainer
He has been messed over a couple of times if I remember right he was showed the door at orentation from a couple of companies so he already has a bad taste in his mouth about the trucking industry now this bad trainer is adding to the bad taste.
Imo I would ask for the new trainer and if they show him the door for it they are not worth _____. Fill in the blank
