Perfect example of every day stupidity. You have the war department riding with you. Some people ran team. YET they set everyone's Qualcomm up to be unreadable in motion. And you were pulling 13. The vast majority of the fleet was 5 axle. Only a non driving deskjockeys would want a 13 to pull over to check a Qualcomm. YET, they want to talk down to you about "safety." 200 ft long, a quarter million pounds, yet you can't be trusted to operate a Qualcomm.

"But Six, he may have become distracted. There are all kinds of videos of what happens when a driver gets distracted."

And 99.9% of them are pulling a van driving a Volvo. Which is safer? For this man to read a Qualcomm while going down the road, or for him to pull a loaded 13 on the shoulder of the road and hope that the shoulder doesn't give way? And what happens when they route him down the usual 2 lane road? Where does he pull over at?

"At the nearest safe haven, Six...DUHHHHHHHHH"

And that is usually a couple hundred miles away. You just can't whip a 13 off and on the highway. And there's the root problem with Safetymen. You worked safety at some doorslammer gig, and now you think you know safety. Unless you've been where that man is trying to go, you have ZERO idea of how to implement safety. You're like a 2 year old trying to teach sex ed. Binky doesn't even work for you yet.

That's when you ask if they need some toilet paper to wipe their mouth....

Because that's the dumbest crap you've heard come out of someone's mouth in a good long while.

My two cents red rover- don't be afraid to ask other truckers at the shipper or receiver for advice. That's how I learned ( and still do) a lot of what I know about flatbedding. Truckers generally love to give advise- no really,

I despised the stop to read messages. I could go 100 miles before I pulled over not knowing if a load changed or if we had a cookout

Yes, but always compare advice from other drivers against the teachings of the green Bible. I've picked up a lot of useful tricks from other drivers. I've also been given a lot of advice that is flat out stupid and dangerous.

And aren't the cookouts always scheduled to end about 30 minutes before you are going to get to yard? O always get back to the good smells, but no food left.
