That's just part off the game in trucking. When that happens i hope to find a load to connect me with the next one, if i can't find anything decent then i just dh, no matter how far it is. I'm not gonna screw up the next 3 loads over one. I get some killer paying loads on occasion, because the agent knows the load will be covered, on time every time, no excuses. Case in point, i wad running a very good load from st louis to south texas. The coolant line for the compressor rubbed through, late in the day in Oklahoma. The compressor had to come off to access it. Most guys would of pulled it into a shop and sat there till the next day. I got the wrenches out and spent 5 hours fixing it, finishing at about 3 am. Got a shower and a nap to finish up the 10 hour break and got on down to the customer for an on time delivery. Another time i was 500 miles away for a load i was committed to picking up the next morning, my connecting load cancelled so i just dead headed. Yes that brought the rate down to crap, but is not like i lost money doing it, i just didn't make as much.

Dealing with brokers that makes great sense, picking off a load board with no personal interaction it's useless as far as being deemed reliable to the customer at schneider.

I don't deal with brokers but maybe 5 times a year. Some people like to think of agents as brokers but they are not even remotely the same.
