Take advantage of the honor program. That salary really makes a world of differnce. I just made sure beforehand my wife and I could survive on the salary and then it was easy. You also pay for your hotel room. Cost me 350.00 in Marshfield. Now if your not using the GI bill to pay for the school then once you drive 120,000 miles the debt is forgiven. I served in the 80's and I still was offered the honor program. The salary ain't half bad especially in the hometime fleets.Good luck

Most likely you will be running loads thru the house. They will give you extra time on the delivery so you will stop for your hometime while under load. At that point is is important to ensure your load is secure.

Unfortunately i came in before the GI bill (VEAP) was offered and was never given the opportunity to sign up for it. I am eligible for the new post-911 GI bill but that doesn't start until 1 Aug 09. I am going to make my move before that.

They do pay for your transportation right? On thier website it has free CDL training for seperating military, can i just get the training and go somewhere else?:biggrin_25525:

You can, but I sure wouldn't advertise to them that you plan to do so. Some do decline employment after finishing out RDTC.

I just talked to the Roehl recruiter. I can get the CDL training for free but i have to pay for everything else, Hotel, food, transportation. Still significantly cheaper than goign to a CDL school (Sage in SC=$4085).

Just so you know, many places won't recognize Roehl's school. While you may get your CDL, many companies want an accredited school, but Roehl gladly accepts their own.

    IRISHGYPSY Thanks this.

And that is the main reason i would stick with Roehl until i got some meaningful experience.

they sound like a good company so sticking with them for a year or so shouldn't be that tough.
