I drove for Swift for 3 1/2 years would still be driving for them if some idiot had not run a stop sign at a "T" intersection and smashed into my car. Went on disability for 6 months and by the time I could go back to work Swift was not rehiring (last May). Went with another company pay was less and reimbursement not as timely as Swift. Swift a driver mill ya they maybbe but since not everyone is born a super trucker they have to start some where. I agree $466.00 per week is low but every industry starts newbies at a low rate, when I trained with Swift I made even less during training. My last few months with Swift I averaged $1100.00 gross per week. Which was better then the company I just left.

Have to start some place, am I right? $466.66 per week isnt so great, but.. its only for 6 weeks, I can suck it up till then, and move on when Im able.

I think every company is posted as a bad company at some point or another. Hell if you look far enough this country and everything in is it posted as bad, I dont think so, but.... should I spend my life doing what other people think is good or bad? I think not.

$466.00 X 4 = 1864.00 Is more than I lived on for over 7 years ($1688.00). Try to live on much less, yet I manage to travel over seas 3 times, with the last trip I stayed for 10 months. If I had not served in the Military I would had to live on 969.00 per month.

Since I been back out I have worked for 4 companies. 2 of them went out of Business, one ran me till I gotten sick and almost died then refuse to pay. And the other was great people, but pay was less than 1688.00 each of the 2 months I work from them. So $466.00 is better than $000.00 per month, with promises of higher pay once your done training.

When I was fired by Navajo back in 2000 for refusing to drive while under the influence of Medication I tried to get a job on the local Police Force, the local Police made 20,000.00 a year, which comes out to be $1666.00 per month. Why Law enforcement? 13 years doing it at sea..

Agree 100%, We as individuals should thrive on doing what we think is best for ourselves. Do what we enjoy, what we are good at, in the end we as individuals will be happier people. Take what we read as information only and judge for our selves. Every Company is same yet different at the same time. It took me going to the lowest point of my life to realize it, to realize it was not always the Company, but myself. I had to change my way of thinking, seek out what the problem was and look for a better solution. It took me going over to the Philippines and living there for 10 months. When I returned to the States, I returned as a different person.

You hear more negative than Positive on most you see on here. Common sense. But every company that posted on here as a bad company do have those who been with them 3 years, 5 years 10 years and some even their entire career till they retire. Every Company is different to a point and every Driver is Different. What makes you tick, may not for the next. So why do people go to them? Could be number of reasons. If I go to Swift it will be to get my foot back into some doors, which it looks as next Tuesday I go to Orientation with them. But bad rep or not, it is a job, and I will make more than if I was sitting at home staring at the walls.

Driver mill? So? Drivers has to start somewhere, since we are not living in yesterday years when you apparently started. It not as easy to get started in the Industry as it was 20 years ago. Everything changes and we have to change with it. When I was growing up I always dreamed of working for a local company, but before I was in High School the owner sold out and the buyer closed it down, only bought it for the rights.

I will be going to Atlanta starting the 16th. Training? no, I am an experienced driver, but due to my vacation of 7 years, some say I only have 6 months experience now, but really 4yrs and 6 months.. I hope to train though, I do want to become a trainer soon as I can.

Actually, when you get your $350 check you'll be told the other recruiter was new... you know... the one who told you $450 a week. lol Don't EVER trust what any recruiter tells you... not ever!
