Well everyone, did you all have a good weekend?
I did. I got some stuff done on Saturday and over all it was pretty nice weather and a nice day today. Tomorrow from what it looked liked last I checked is a pretty typical Monday for me so that's about. 705 cube which is what I would consider heavy-medium so that's a good start.

They say the definition of insanity is repeating the same action over and over expecting a different outcome. While I don't consider myself insane, I do need to stop placing my gloves on the dolly while I'm doing a pretrip in the belief that I'll remember to recover them before I head out the gate. I'm getting tired of arriving at my destination and when I go to break the set realizing that I've done it AGAIN. Maybe I'll put a string on them like the little kids have on their mittens, or have dispatch pin a note to my shirt reminding me not to forget. At least I tend to buy cheap gloves.
road_runner, Bob Dobalina, Mike2633 and 3 others Thank this. -
I've always set my gloves on the driver's step. That way I figure I'll step on them and be reminded....'course with my luck it'd be more like slip and break a bone.
Big Don Thanks this. -

Hey oh hey do I have a good one for everyone here!
Lately "chatter" over the air waves from management has been pretty quiet which is fine no problem, gosh I think I might see the bosses at this rate maybe once a week and that's actually what I love about GFS, it's like working for your self, honest to god it's great, I come in when I want, get my truck trailer do what I gotta do and go. During the day nobody really calls me on the phone to check up on me or anything I just go place to place, do my thing one thing after the other, usually when I get back to the yard management is gone which is fine, I do my paper work drop my trailer park my truck get in my car and leave.
Anyhow, yesterday and another driver told me about this today and tell me what you guys think of this:
Another driver had a bad tire on his truck so instead of calling management and asking them what to do which would have been the proper chain of command he called the Michelin Emergency Road Service number and started talking and ended up ordering 10 brand new tires for his truck! Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! We have a shop at the warehouse, you call them after letting management tell you what to do, and they handle it and if they don't you kick it up to management and let them do something about it.
Anyhow this driver LOL! Went off and ordered road service for 10 brand new tires! Roadservice came out after hours of course and charged for that and and put 2 brand new steers on and 8 brand new drives on!
Our boss at the yard heard about that this morning and by the way that went against our budget at the yard this morning! $8,000-$10,000 dollars right down the toilet.
Our boss they said was RED in the face and ready to go through the roof! It's one thing to have a bad tire, that needs immediate service, but it's another thing to have all the tires replaced, we have a shop and the shop has a tire vendor and transit could have taken the truck to the company shop and the shop would have handled it, there pretty good about tire stuff really and it wouldn't have cost $10K either. So now we have a 10 year old Volvo with 500,000 miles on it with brand new tires so we got that going for us LOL!
In other news I think my trucks latest round of maintenance was done at the Volvo dealership our shop tries, but they struggle with certain things and I don't know what's going on there, the guys who work there are really green and they try hard they really do, but they just are fighting a really big learning curve and I can tell when our shop does something vs the dealer and I think this last time our shop looked at my truck and because it needed a new bumper and had some computer reset issues they just said never mind forget it and it went straight to the Volvo Dealer.misterG, FreightlinerGuy, road_runner and 1 other person Thank this. -
Well, what I think of it, is that the driver who ordered those tires should be fired. Period. No ifs, ands, or buts. Or maybe in his case butts.....
misterG, Bob Dobalina and Mike2633 Thank this. -
Wow, that's some kind of special right there. I'd give him his walking papers too...
Our shop is pretty up on the Volvo stuff, there's really not much they can't do, though they farm out Allison or Eaton ECM stuff to the appropriate dealers. Also, some of the issues with the Cummins CNG motors gets an onsite visit from Cummins technicians. But, some of our techs have been at this location for 20+ years. I don't think there's a green mechanic in there.Mike2633 Thanks this. -
I'd fire him also...but I'd also question how a driver would have the ability to order 10 tires for his truck. You'd think there would be some kind of safeguard against that.

No doubt there will be now.
Mike2633, Big Don and Pintlehook Thank this.
