Hey guys I'm kind of new to The Forum so I had a question I have recently received a license suspension and it wasn't due to a DWI or a DUI it was due to a non insurance payment and me unknowingly after our insurance policy was cancelled, that my license would be suspended continued to save up money for rent because we were close to eviction. At the time since times were hard we put a family member in charge of our insurance and me and my dad covered the rent because we were making the most money. after saving up the money I went to the DMV to renew my tags and they told me that I couldn't because my license was suspended and I literally had no idea so that was over a month ago and I'm still trying to get it back it's quite pricey and I am the one in the house that makes the most money so I'm having to put out a lot of money and slowly save to get it back before August ends the question is will this disqualify me at all from getting hired I talked to Melton Truck Lines safety department and they told me that since it wasn't a driving suspension I was fine the guy in the safety department also told me as long as I get it reinstated and when I come it's valid then I will be fine does this sound right or is it something I should think about. I'm 20 years old and I've never had a license suspension so I'm not scared of what may happen I'm just open to receive advice please all I want is the truth. So to sum it all up my license is suspended due to a lack of money and also a lack of understanding.

Sounds about right. Many companies will hire you due to the type of suspension; non-moving violation. If Melton changes their mind, then try TransAm; their hiring is not as rigid.

I have a pretty good list of companies that hire 21 yr. old drivers. If you need more info, hit me up!
Put your location on your profile so we know the hiring area you live in.x1Heavy and Maurice_1221 Thank this. -

My experience in trying to get hired is that top driving employers will see the suspension and not even consider you, regardless of the reason, if it was in the past 3-10 years.
I also have a suspension on my record- Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility ticket from 2007, not suspended until 2012 when I went in to renew my DL.
I paid a lawyer to make it go away in 2007 and he did- got a court date for 2048 or something like that. Five years later, I got mail saying to appear. I blew that off because I hadn't been driving any type of motor vehicle for over 3 years. However, when I needed my license in 2012, the DMV informed me of the dilemma.
At the end, I paid around $900 to get my license reinstated and over the course of the last few years finished paying the over $1500 in surcharges and then the extra costs of SR-22 insurance, even though I didn't own a vehicle.
Some states treat FMFR tickets like DUI/DWI's in some respects.
I was accepted by several smaller companies and the "training" megas, but the latter option is for the birds IMHO... -
