Our goal is 1000 dollars a day to the company truck. Anything less and were not making enough money.

If this is a year round job with 300 miles a day for 5 days in the week I would think 2.00 per mile would be fair rate. That would be $156,000. a year and home every night … not a bad job. Even better if the job required more then one truck. As Ridgeline quoted though " it is not greed it is just business". I don`t think any of the other guys were trying to take you to the bank but were in their guide lines of quoting you a market price for what they feel is needed for their services.

1000 bucks sounds okay, keep in mind trucking isn't cheap. That's why we roll past cheap frieght, pay for the service or take your risks .
Road Killer Thanks this. -
I so love it when someone asks for a price on any kind of work, then exclaims they can do it themselves for less. LMFAO.
ClutchNGo, Domingo101, TripleSix and 9 others Thank this. -
I'd guess you better just do it yourself. Especially if you know so much about it and can go buy a truck and run it on 300 miles a day for less then $2 a mile. Cheap help isn't good and good help sure as heck isn't cheap.Bakerman, fordconvert, Ruthless and 2 others Thank this. -
Maybe he will get lucky and find someone willing to do city work for 0.50 per mile driving his equipment with his insurance and authority and dot filings and fuel tax and inspections and and and and and
icsheeple, double yellow, ramblingman and 1 other person Thank this. -
Personally I work for $750/day, I wouldn't do it for less if I have the headaches of having my own company. I also live in the Chicago area, if you think you're going to pay $2/mile for a 300 mile run to someone with their own company, you're either high or hiring some fly by night company.rollin coal and Road Killer Thank this. -
Short haul flatbed work in Chicagoland for $2 a mile lol, good luck with that
rollin coal, spyder7723, Pete jockey and 2 others Thank this. -
Well, apparently 0.89/mile is a good price. At least according to a Bad Company posting..
