I am trying to find out info on dual-fuel glider kits. What kind of mileage do you get with them vs standard diesel? Does the dual-fuel system weigh much more? Does anybody here own one? What has been your experience so far? Any advice on who to buy from?

    Duel fuel glider kits????
The main reason people buy a glider is to get away from all the BS on the new trucks.
Your not going to find anyone in there right mind owning a glider with that crap on it.
Thats like saying "hey does anyone run a toyota prius engine in there 1/2 ton chevy short box."

Not sure what your getting at exaclly.
Kinda defeats the whole purpose of getting a glider in the first place

    mhyn Thanks this.

We have a 2013 Freightliner dual-fuel glider. It uses diesel and CNG. Short and sweet answer: We won't be buying another one. It has reliability issues, does not get any better fuel mileage, and just is not worth the hassle. We got it from some outfit in southern MN.

Obviously you don't know very much about this subject. The systems I am asking about are completely modular and can be removed from the truck if necessary. It is nothing like your example. I wasn't asking for opinions on the subject from people who haven't even ran one. If you have real world experience on the subject, fine. I am looking for real world information, not negative opinions from the uninformed.

A dual fuel system is a truck that has CNG and diesel tanks so it can run on a combination of fuels.

Thanks for your response. Can you go into detail about what kind of issues you have?

We seem to have a backfiring problem with it that they tried to fix once but seemed to not make a difference. Mileage wise it's doing no better than the Kenworth W900 with no fairings that it replaced. It's a Freightliner Century with a roof fairing. Sometimes it doesn't use any CNG even though it's turned on. It just seems like it's a half-arsed effort at being able to claim a person is using a CNG truck. We got a heck of a deal on it so it's not costing us any money but if we had to pay full price? No way.

Sounds like a dealer that doesn't know what they are doing. Does this dealer do many CNG jobs, or was this some kind of one off special? Sounds really odd... Nothing against you guys, but it sounds like you got stuck with a lemon. Harrison Truck Center here in Waterloo just finished a 100 unit order of dual-fuel Coronado gliders for a medium-sized truck company. Supposedly, whoever these guys are, they love them.

Was this a new glider with CNG, or did they do a conversion on a used truck?

This was bought as a demo truck from Baker Electromotive which builds and markets the system.
