Garbage and cement trucks are not "tractor trailers", regardless of what Sally Soccer Mom or whoever may think.

Court cases can and do hinge on language.

Well then let the op go to court. Tell the judge the cop lied and explain it to the judge to see what he thinks?

That is incorrect, only a Class B license is required to drive a tractor/bobtail.

I already know the answer to that because I've never met a judge that isn't anti-truck, regardless of any possible facts in his or her favor.

But if we're talkng about a north of $200 fine here, I still say it's worth pursuing.

I don't even think you need that as long as you're under 26k.

Well I have and know that the op will lose because no matter what the sign says, it is a common sense issue, not a symatics issue.

I showed this to my neighbors kid who stopped by, she's 7 and I showed her pictures of a bobtail and a tractor trailer than the signs: she said a trucks a truck and they can't read.

Looking at another map, where he parked was Walmart overflow, not bk parking.

Ok whatever, some just don't get it and doesn't know or understand the concept of certain signs.Thing to do is ask management so they don't call the law.

It appears to me that what most of you are missing is that Freightwipper is arguing based on his principles, and I can relate quite well to that. The amount of the fine is irrelevant when ones principles are the crux of the matter and one has the spine to stand behind them.

Based on the overhead photo and the description by Freightwipper,I have to agree he has a valid argument regardless of what the signs say and their respective proximity to where he parked. As to what the signs say and the perceived definition by some, a CMV, tractor trailer, semi, bobtail...wtf ever one wants to call any or all of them, IMO any derivative or combination of those are taboo according to the intent of the signage.

You expected otherwise from a 7-year old?

    Please, you're smarter than this.

No, a truck is not truck, not as long as a tractor and a trailer are two separate animals.

Based on just that I would agree.

Reading the whole thread and seeing the sign he apparently didn't see I think he should pay the fine and move on. Got there at around 04:00, went in to the store and spent a few bucks then went for a 'nap' Sounds like overnight parking to me. Not seeing the sign that says no overnight parking for 'commercial vehicles' even though he admits he was right at that sign.

Seems like a losing battle to me.
