There may be more loads out of Wytheville so think of it a strategic move. Ever done the Gatorade loop?, it may be in your future.

Another cynical view could be that they want you further away from home as thanksgiving looms.

I'm grateful that they gave me this load. It kept me moving, which is what I wanted. I just want to understand why it makes sense to them to do what they did. Trying to expand my knowledge of how the trucking industry works. Pure curiosity, nothing more.

I'm already working over Thanksgiving, so that's not a problem. I'm working 36 days straight so I can get 6 days off around Christmas.

My new load assignment is to haul a reefer to the Kroger warehouse in Shelbyville, IN. I was there a couple weeks ago, but don't remember what I was hauling.

    Redtwin and chralb Thank this.

They get paid a lot of money to haul that freight. What they pay you is a very small portion of what they get paid.

Guess we are their yard jockeys too... have to wait to drop my trailer, wait for an empty, then pull the empty off the dock to put the next oldest load in the door then leave with the empty... Then wait for my 10 to finish so I can go to Richmond.

So ready to be home for thanksgiving!!!

    4mer trucker Thanks this.

Yeah, they took an hour to get me unloaded and four more hours to get me the paperwork.

That was also the same place where I had backed into the dock slightly off-center, such that they couldn't lower the dock plate. Guy comes out and tells me I need to recenter my trailer. "Sure thing," I say, and start to put it in gear. Then I noticed the red light was still on, because they still had me clamped to the dock....
