    @Sho Nuff
    Is Orowheat, Arnolds, Entimans, Thomas English Muffins (Storeham) all now owned by Bimbo?
    Obviously Orowheat was bought by Entiman's and then Entimans was bought by Bimbo.

    There's a company or there was a company out east here known as Metz Baking and I guess they were owned by or made Sara Lee brand bread?

    Yup Fanz/bimbo/us bakery's still use those trucks. Mostly in Oregon with ether a 45/48 footer or doubles. Ive seen them but dont really pay much attention to them when Im delivering bulk flour to them.

    Sho Nuff and Mike2633 Thank this.

    I had wondered about them didn't know if they had gone out of style or are still around. Obviously there run in a fairly concentrated part of the country out east where I live the bread companies don't really use that type of set up.

    Wow...I stand corrected. I didn't know we had any of those. All of our tractors were twin screws. Like I mentioned, it might of been a West Coast thing.

    The reason why we have side doors is because we make our deliveries through them to the depots or thrift stores. No different from putting a dock plate on the rear, or using a mechanical dock that goes up and down at the thrift stores. We would roll out the bakery goods on racks and reload the MT racks or stales and let the depot workers take it from there. They would then load up the bread trucks for the sales driver so they were ready to go. Bimbo did it opposite from us. They were drop and hook, and depot workers would set it up just like we did. If the sales drivers worked out of a distribution center, they would have to load up their own vehicles.

    Yep, Bimbo owns all of them.

    Here's a list of Bimbo's products...

    You might also wanna ask @rabbiporkchop, he works for Grocery Haulers pulling Bimbo products.

    There are fewer and fewer of them that I see. Franz Bakery in Seattle is one of the last that I have seen, and it's an older model, this picture is just an example. In years past, they were pretty common with all the local bakeries. They are still used to a certain extent by moving companies.

    Frankly, I never understood the purpose of them myself, or whether they were actually that useful, but those that had them certainly had a reason.

    Ive seen them most at the Eugene Oregon Franz. Im guessing they built them to haul more product then a 53'er but sense the 5th wheel is behind the drivers it will actually turn tighter then a 40'er I do believe.
