I've seen them as cheap as $50 new. I'd buy a GPS before a CB because I know I'd use it. A CB seems more like a toy than a tool. I understand why some people want them. I don't get the religious aspect.

CB is a tool. A lot of places that I load you have to call in on the CB give your load number and trailer number Before you can approach the scale.

Once in awhile I run into a situation where I'm asked if I have a CB. I'm guessing there are plenty of other drivers out there that don't have one since that seems to be a common question. Usually I use my cell phone instead. Sometimes someone comes out and knocks on the door. 99.9% of the time you just wait for the dock light to go green. CB a tool? Yes. But it's a tool that is not used often and so far never been necessary at this point in my short career. Never-the-less, I am considering eventually moving over to the dark side and purchasing a CB...someday...

Get a CB, preferably one with side band! You don't know how many times I've avoided radar traps or clogged roads because of them.

Wow what an old post. CB has turned from tool to double duty as a toy. That's why they have roger beeps, echo boards and add in noise makers. You can act like a kid by disguising your voice while playing amusing (to you) sounds over the air at the expense of unhappiness for others.
