I decided to unload one pallet at a rcvr in Florida. I was surprised at how hard it actually was to break down the pallet. It proved to me how old and out of shape I've become over the years. The next thing I know, I'm in the emergency room with a pinched nerve in my neck. Never again.

Did just that very thing yesterday, or I should say my co-driver, (wife), did. It was the first of two stops in Seattle,(Amazon Fresh), and they said it would take at least two hours to unload after security came in and cleared the trailer. It was only one pallet of dead cluckers and we were told second drop would take us if we got there early. Second drop was scheduled next day. I was asleep at first stop and wife couldn't see waiting so she borrowed pallet jack from Amazon and pulled the one pallet. Sent in a macro 11 for 50$ and immediately received an authorization code for the 50$ dollars. We did have to explain the circumstances for self unload. Did it once before at a grocery store in Green Bay and was promptly paid.

In order to get paid, you need prior approval from your DM or payroll won't pay it.

Have I done it? Hell yes. Some shippers don't want drivers doing it themselves tho. Doesn't make sense to me.

Also, there are pre-printed lumper forms at the terminal that need to be filled out in order to be paid.

Some loads are worth it, others definitely not.

I'm sure if I made a habit of it though someone at jct would put a stop to it, lol. Only done it twice in the one year we've been here.

Saw this on Facebook. It's at Nissin Foods in Gardena, Ca. I carry my own food in my own truck and ain't no one can tell me I can't eat my own food in my own truck while waiting for hours for a dock.
