Thinking about abusing myself and getting back into driving after the first of the year. Any opinions on which company is better. Melton or Prime?
Which is better Melton truck lines or Prime?

People will have opinions. People also have opinions on whether they'd prefer a turd sandwich or a giant douche. Just sayin....TigerShark Thanks this.

Don't know about Melton but haven't heard anything positive about Prime. We pass them all the time as they are the slowest trucks on the road. If you want all the other drivers laughing at you sign up with them.
mitmaks and TigerShark Thank this. -
Prime flatbed has a pretty good reputation.
Paul Transportation is ok.
Abilene Motor Express is van and trucks run 68 mph.TigerShark Thanks this. -
I have worked for Melton since July this year. I did the 2 week orientation/interview/training + 3 weeks in a trainer truck. I got hired afterwards. I was assigned a newer KW T680 with an APU. All Melton equipment is top notch. Contrary to what some disgruntled people told me on here, i am generally very happy. I'm not a cheerleader for Melton. I originally intended to just get free training and experience for maybe 6 months tops. I learned about Melton from this site's jobs section. Now months later, I've had my first raise, got a tution reimbursment bonus, a sign-on bonus and also my benefits have kicked in. I honestly like it more than I expected. I can't imagine leaving yet just because the grass may be greener. Others will tell you negative things and they make good points . I cant say they are wrong. There are cameras that record you for 20 seconds if you hard brake, then you get a 2-sentence written Qualcomm msg about safer practices. That doesn't bother me. I pretty much stay away from everyone, do my own loads, do my logs correctly and stay out as much as possible. Prime might be just as good, I don't know. Good luck and make up your own mind.

I have noticed that they(prime) ride there brakes going down the slightest little rolling hill even if they are already 5 or 10 under the interstate speed limit. That would wear me out and exhaust me if I had to constantly do that to maintain whatever slow speed they are trying to hold. Not sure why they dont let it coast they aren't doing the speed limit anyway.

They could have the brake lights wired into the engine brake maybe. Not sure if Prime does that or what the excessive speed parameters are but I'm sure it's low and he is trying to stay under it. Either way I'd rather just pass a slower truck that's doing the speed he's comfortable with than see him in a ditch and shutting down the interstate.Highway Sailor, Razororange, sgt slaughter and 2 others Thank this.

Who has the better miles? Tarp pay bonus stuff. You're comparing red apples to green apples if you ask me only difference is if you like freightliners or kws more.
Find a small out fit, be a name not a number. Look up trucking outfits in your area so in case of emergencies they can put you right back in town. They pay more, treat you like a grown up, and that says a lot in this industry.
Just my two cents..... Oh and happy one year OTR birthday to me.Crusader66 Thanks this.
