Walmart here I come!

It's their company and they can hire how ever they want to, but this sure doesn't make much sense to me.

I have 30+ yrs and 4 mil miles no accidents been with my current company 10 yrs as of next week, but because I couldn't baby sit a computer and applied 4-5 days after a opening posted someone with 2 1/2 yrs experience will get the job before I get a chance just because of a time stamp of when they hit submit......

Anyways, I dare say there weren't many that got in before me for Coldwater,Mi. because I was refreshing every minute after I saw it was about to open up, lol.

 

I too just applied for Coldwater. I was wondering do they send out any kind of email saying they received your application?

 

Yes you will get something with a candidate number on it that I'm guessing is for contacting them at a later date about the application. May take a day or 2 to get it though.

 

$54 million is a rounding error on yearly revenue that is 8832 times that amount!

If Walmart were to think that moving DC's out of California and servicing stores from hundreds of miles further away is a good idea, then the person suggesting this in Bentonville needs to be replaced. I could see Walmart closing all their stores in California due to labor costs before I could see them trying to service such a big state like California from bordering states and eating up more of an already thing profit margin. Walmart is not exactly beloved in California as it is compared to the South central USA.

Just my opinion, but I do not see it happening. Mostly empty rhetoric from Bentonville, if it even really came for there in the first place.

 

Kevin Roper, the Walmart truck driver who hit the limo van comedian Tracy Morganwas riding in on the New Jersey Turnpike in 2014, accepted a plea deal Tuesday that allows him to enter a pre-trial intervention program.

If Roper successfully completes the program's 300 hours of community service, all charges will be dismissed and he will avoid trial for the crash that killed comedian James McNair and severely injured Morgan.

Roper had no record prior to the accident and was eligible for the non-prosecution diversion program as a first-time offender.

Roper's defense attorney David Glassman spoke to reporters outside the court house today.

"The fortunate thing about this is he can go forward with his life. If he completes the program, the charges will be extinguished and he won’t have a criminal record," he said.

According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), Roper had been awake for more than 28 hours prior to the collision and was driving 20 miles per hour above the speed limit.

“Had the truck driver been traveling at the posted work zone speed limit of 45 mph, it could have been stopped before impact,” NTSB investigator David Rayburn said last year.

McNair's family and Morgan sued Walmart, and both lawsuits were settled. The terms of the settlements were not publicly disclosed.

Glassman unsuccessfully tried in September 2015 to have criminal charges dropped against his client, stating that it would be difficult for Roper to have a fair trial.

"No system of justice can rightfully call itself just - if it operates in an atmosphere where the state is unwilling to protect the accused who appears before them, prior to a jury trial," he wrote in paperwork. "No accused can receive a fair trial, or any other due process requirements, if the criminal justice system under which an accused is tried leaves him at the mercy of the press."

You're not wrong about it not making a ton of sense to go with first qualified, but unfortunately there was a class action suit a while back (3-5 years ago?) that said our hiring practices were unfair to some degree. This was the most 'fair' way to hire drivers that they could come up with. Experience be ######, who can click faster?
