GRRR, this frustrates me. I didn't receive mine so just by chance I went back to site to try and apply again. usually it states you have already applied for this position, which it did last night because I checked, now this morning it started a new application.......#@$@. So I filled it out again and almost immediately received my email with my candidate reference number.

The one DC where I wouldn't have to relocate and I may end up missing out because of a stupid computer glitch.

Just stating what I was told by my safety manager. Obviously that driver didn't do a thorough pre trip for the interview and at YRC.

This is a long thread and there is some very useful information provided to which I would like to thank the many contributors.

I have a good job, been there almost 4 years. The Walmart opportunity is like the "golden ring" for me, I suspect it is for the majority of drivers. I spent a long time considering whether or not to apply, but I decided that if I did not then I would never know if I was "good enough" to make the cut for arguably one of the top fleets in our industry.

I applied July 22, 2016 for the DC in Grove City OH, which is a short 65 miles from my house. I waited with great anticipation and checked the website daily for the first month......."Under Consideration" was the automated reply. (at least it didn't say "Not Interested"). The Wednesday before Thanksgiving I got the call to set up the phone interview (scheduled for the following Tuesday after the holiday). I was super stoked and eager to have the phone interview. I was ready, I prepared for a moment like this for my entire driving career (which has only been 6 years). I wanted to build may career so that when the opportunity presented itself to be with the best, I was the best I could be and I have conducted myself (in my driving career) in a manner that presented me an excellent choice.

I listened intently to the phone interviewer, very concise questions that covered driving and various scenarios, review of my employment history and and one final question, "what would other drivers think of you if they were asked?" I never considered that before, my response was straightforward and concise, "hard working, a leader, safe!" The interview was over, after a 30 second hold, (which seemed like an hour) I was advised I had passed. First leg done!

The DC called be 3 days later. Road test and subsequent DOT physical on Wednesday 12/7 @1000. I'm confident in my pre-trip inspection (everyone on this thread has complied great tips) and the DOT physical will not be a problem. I'm not worried about a background check (I've had my HAZMAT and all my endorsements for 6 years now) nor am I worried about the drive. I'm safe and I love the truck.

    I'm worried about the change!

I work for a large LTL carrier, I have a line haul run that I log 508 miles a night and make about 95K a year. The security of my family is important and I need some honest answers regarding earning potential and the time frame it will take to realize this potential? I'm willing to sleep in the truck, truthfully I don't think I get that much rest now being home daily. I'm willing to put in the hours, I work 68-70 every 5 days. I wanna work and am willing to do it daily, a 508 mile line haul run and 4 hours of dock work in the middle of the turn is not easy, but I love it and get paid well for my hard work.

Will I have an opportunity to earn good money at Walmart if I apply myself?

    Crusader66 Thanks this.

I've been here 9 months. I average 3600 to 4100.00 gross every 2 weeks. My last pay stub showed north of 70,000 in that time frame. You will probably pay more for less in health insurance. But, I think you would enjoy it here. I worked Thanksgiving but they got me to the house for dinner. And your first year you can earn up to 27 paid days off. No job is perfect but it's pretty close to me.

    Crusader66 and XFM2013 Thank this.
