My buddy has a Fitz Coronado with their in house motor. So far about 50,000 miles no problems with the motor, pulls great, mpg's high 7's and low 8's. He's had some minor issues but Fitz has been really accommodating taking care of those.

I have one with 100,000 miles on it, no problems except AC compressor and it was I repaired under warranty at Freightliner. I purchased it in March of 15 and have had a driver in it. Not one repairs other than that. When I bought one in March you could not get it with a CAT even if you supplied it. At least that is what I was told. You had the choice of the Clarke or the Fitzgerald motor and same warre try on both. With a driver in it my truck is getting 7 mpg and uses no oil between oil changes at 15000 miles. Used about a gallon per oil change for the first 50000 miles.

Bought a Fitz with detroit reman runs good . But after 40,000 miles truck blows blue smoke at idle i drive it 30mi no more blue smoke if the truck sits 2hrs fire it up blue smoke again. Pulled the manifold off #1 smokes replaced #1 still smokes . Pulled manifold off again 4 5 6 smoke replaced 4 5 6 still smokes . So then we replaced 2 3 still smokes. I pull light loads avg 8.5 at 62 . My run is only 162miles round trip i do it 2 times a day. Cant figure out the problem here 1/2 gal oil every 10,000 miles 1/2 gal coolant in 51,000 mi. Considering changing the head truck cough and sputters at start up for about 1 min then she smothes out. It actually sounds like a hit and miss engine when its cold out for about 1 min then she smothes out but bellos alot of blue smoke. When pulling the manifold off alot of moisture on the valves

Fitz rebuilds Detroits there selves. If you want a cat they partner with Thompson cat. Fitzgerald just provides the glider to them. I know they do Cummins to but they don't rebuild in house
-
You can also get 6 NZ from Thompson but you'll pay extra for that.

The first truck (Columbia)I bought from them in March of 2015 just turned 215,000 miles. It has had the AC compressor replaced under warranty and 1 broken manifold bolt replaced under warranty. And only missed 1 day on the road for those repaires.
Looking at getting another truck from them at the first first of the year. Fitzgerald has been awesome to work with and I will continue to buy from them until they treat me otherwise.
These have been my experiences with them and not lunch counter gossip.RubyEagle, Lone Ranger 13, Terry270 and 1 other person Thank this. -
We bought 10 of them. No more. Ever again. Problems, problems, problems.
Terry270 Thanks this. -

If you are looking at other options, check out Elkhorn Valley Trucks. I bought a W9 a year ago with a 6nz. I've been very happy with it, no issues. They don't have a standard cab like Fitz. You order what you want. They mostly build Petes but they did a nice job on my KW.
