BoxCarKidd, I think you misunderstood the breakaway. It is not a cord and a switch like on the little trailers. On the older 359 schematic that I have it is called a breakaway switch. On the newer 359 schematic it is called the trailer spring brake switch. It's function is to pass thru the primary (service) brake signal from the service brake stoplight switch to the trailer receptacle when everything is working. Upon seeing a drop in secondary air pressure, it flips when it senses 55psi or lower and sends power to the trailer brake lights regardless of the service brake line. At least that is how I read it. Sounds like I don't need it anyway.

Ya know you are digging up ghosts of the past with that.

Lose a trailer hypothetically it takes too long for the protection valves to kick in. And when they did DO kick in, you are stopping on springs anyway. Trailer is long gone mashing people a mile behind you.

You could use the red trolley line to refill a air start chamber tank before pushing the start button another 10 seconds to crank. That was one of the things thaf defined trucking for me. A big cold #####y engine waking up as each cylinder kicks over...

Right. Not going to wire it up like it was. Was just making the point of how it was done by the OEM.
