I got a few questions that my recruiter didn't really explain to well...

I know you can do the .30 a mile pay...or the percentage pay...but...if you pick the percentage pay...how much you get paid when your empty?...or...i should ask...do you get paid when your empty?...also...i want to make the best choice for me...what's the average income on a load with percentage pay?...and how many miles the new drivers average a week?...how was the orientation?...trainers?...and do you still get your name on the side of ya truck?...and if you pic the .30 per mile pay...when does it increase?...

    Thanks...

HELLO MINUS.I PERSONALLY WOULD NOT DO PERCENTAGE.YOU ONLY GET PAID THE PERCENTAGE OF THE LOAD AND IF THE LOAD IS SMALL ADD IT UP,I THINK YOU WOULD BE MUCH BETTER OFF WITH THE .30 PER MILE.JUST AS LONG AS YOU DRIVE YOUR ### OFF AND KEEP THE WHEELS TURNING,YOU WILL MAKE MORE MONEY.:biggrin_2551:

I figured the percentage gives the company the upper hand since they really don't promote the .30 cent mile pay...

Percentage pay can be okay if there is little dead head. Since you are being paid only for loaded time, the time lost for dead head can affect the profit made from a trip.

The company only has to absorb the cost of the truck moving, not a cost for the driver, when moving the truck to a new load.

.30 CPM?? Why go TMC at all? Plenty of other companies start at way more than that. Unless that big black Pete is teasing you.:biggrin_25525:

Well i'm in school...so .30 CPM is about average startin...i might go to Maverick though if i can get wit them...they start at 35 CPM...but i just hear good things about TMC...i rather be happy and make a LITTLE less money at one company...compared to make a LITTLE more and be unhappy...because...if you ain't happy...you ain't gone wanna stay...

I drove linehaul for TMC 2 yrs ago and I took the % pay. I kept track of the miles I drove and what I got paid on %, compared the two and I came out better on %. Other drivers I talked to did better on mileage pay.

Take either mileage or %, keep track of both and see which one works better for you. Unless they have changed, you can swap from one to the other.

But when you was comparing the % pay...did you factor in the miles you wasn't getting paid because you wasn't loaded?...i basicly want it to where as though i KNOW what my check will be if i get X amount of miles...but i won't have a clue to what it will be because i don't have a clue to what i'll be hauling...
