Seems they are full of hot air to me. They give you a comparison on a slow week working for them. I've been told by many to be very cautious about trucking companies near Chicago sense many are horrible or even have Mobb ties. Don't know if one should believe all are tied to a criminal organization but if they are going to market that they pay 88% of the revenue yet charge you to use their trailer also, then probably is a waste of time or after their deductions, you could possible make the same $ or less compared to working for there with a lower % pay. You can't always go by a stated % rate because they could be paid a lot less for a load compared to another company.
For example, Landstar pays 65% and my company pays 72%. Well one day we both pulled the same load for the same weight and to the same customer yet the Landstar driver earned $800 more on the load. Now that doesn't mean they will be paid more on every load. Also, if a company is charging up front for their trailer then you might as well drop that % pay down about 5-10% of what they tell you are absorbing that cost of maintaining it.
If you want to know if those drivers are being honest, have them prove their numbers on paper. It's one thing to gross $5000-6000k but after all is said and done, only the bottom line means the most. Grossing $5000 at a $1.55 rate with a trailer fee and a lot more miles driven compared to grossing $4-4500at a $1.93 as I do can be a big difference in how hard you work for your $$. But since I haven't heard nor seen much if any bad info about them Insay give it a shot. I guess you plan on using Quality Co for a truck which in itself is a rip off, might as well see if you can lease or buy your own trailer and take it to them too.

 

Tri State pays 88% so it might be worth it. Schenider truck leasing would be perfect for you because you do a 1 year lease then a 3 and own it. Paying all those expenses and not being able to dispatch yourself is a sign for concern. Basically if they lack freight or things are slow, you are still held to that trailer rental fee and insurance. I mean you can start off with Quality Co then branch away getting one from Schenider after you have a positive experience working there. For about 3 months. Don't get a used Quality truck because it's only a 30 day warranty on DOT things only. Better off with a brand be one with a full warranty. It's set up to lease short term anyway.
I get 72% of what the load pays but as with all % pay it could be 72% of a load brokered by another company that my company takes and they don't give you 72% of the original load, it's 72% of what they got off the load. For example a broker has a load paying 1000 but Werner get its then can't haul it for some reason so they will broker it to another company for let's say 800, then take company will give me 72% of that 800. That's the down side to trucking. You got to make sure they don't take a bunch of brokered JB hunt freight or similar companies.[l

 

Who did you speak to at Tri State? They never mentioned anything about a lease to me. I contacted them via their Facebook page. They were good at responding to my messages but stopped after I got very technical about the numbers and rates. Guess she felt I was too nosy for obvious reason or it would be a miracle to convince me to come over.
I heard of another company called Voyager Nation Inc that claims similar numbers.
But ask Tri State do they have their own mechanics and if they will honor any warranty from a truck brought from outside. Also check to see if you have a breakdown, will they be willing to front the $ and deduct from your settlements also.
