Do you need to have a HazMat endorsement to haul for USPS?
I just started researching on applying for USPS bids. If anyone has any advice I'd really appreciate it.

Nope. No Hazmat needed. No doubles either, although I've seen HCR drivers pull pups. We have a couple pups as well, but I've never seen anyone, whether it's HCR or MVS pull doubles or Hazmat.

    MikeCA Thanks this.

    Hey Thanks!
Are you an owner operator? I am trying to get my truck hauling mail for USPS I live in Southern CA almost San Diego. Any advice would be appreciated. I don't mind using my truck to haul for another company that has a contract or do you know how to get work directly with USPS?
    Take care

    Sho Nuff Thanks this.

Some companies will use O/O but it's a pain compared to just having drivers.

Start here to bid on your own routes:

Nah, I'm a Postal Driver. I work for the Feds. I could probably find out what it takes to be a O/O by asking the head of transportation, but I NEVER actually get to see him. @Sublime can probably help you out better than I can.

    MikeCA Thanks this.

AJR took all of the Matheson contracts in North Bay recently if that helps. I think they are based out of Long Beach or somewhere similar but they have Terminals and contracts all over the state

    Hey Sublime,
Thanks for answering. I signed up already, got the NAICS number and D&B number and submitted the form and it was received. Now I am waiting for a contracting officer to "invite me" so I can start receiving bids. Do you have any experience in getting past this part? I've been waiting for about 2-3 weeks already.

    Thanks Loot,
I will contact Matheson and see what's out there.

Thanks, like I told Sublime, I filled out the form to be registered, now just waiting to be invited by a contracting officer in order to receive bids. If you could ask around I'd really appreciate it. I heard that some companies deal directly with a USPS dispatcher and get loads without bidding.
    Once again thanks for helping.

We've been hauling mail since the 80s. I don't know anything about what you've done, just the website. That was done a LONG time ago for me. ;)
