I can't tell if he's a troll or has a concrete head (cementino de la cabeza), you wanna go broke, fine, I just hope you ain't got no kids to feed. It's OK if YOU want to be homeless, but don't drag anyone else through the misery. As soon as you mentioned a nice looking truck, I knew you were in for a mess of trouble. We all want a sharp looking rig. But not when you have no or little experience, or a real good reserve fund, around $15k after buying the truck. Your desire for instant gratification is a sign of not being seriously ready. You got to pay your dues, no get rich quick ideas. Not trying to insult you, but I got a lot of time in the business. If you think for one minute that you won't have a "boss", if you lease or buy when you're under financed, your fooling yourself. The bank or leasing company will be your boss, the kind of boss who won't give a sxxx whether your dead or alive, who won't care about any financial emergency that may arise back home. It's just "where's my money"!
If you want to read about someone who did it the right way, and still almost lost it all, search these forums for "HORST".
By the way you can modify your company owned truck! It's called duck tape, Velcro, a spool of mechanics wire, and bungies. The better way to do it is write up that emergency door that flies open, that's definitely a safety item. Werner must fix it, of course they'll chew up some valuable time, but doing it right is better than your TV and PS4 scattered down the road. Or getting blamed for the door somewhere down the road. Cover yer ###, always. Ask yourself if that trailer scrape would have happened, if you got out and looked.
Now go be safe, find a better company in 6-12 months, and start enjoying yourself, but keep your nose clean!!!Last edited: Dec 19, 2016

You can go home for longer if you decide but they may have you get another truck when you come back , I think some will let you be home for five days before you have to turn truck in. I know one guy who would work nine months and come winter time he would be off for three months, it may not be possible in every company or any to do this today but I do know when I left Swift to go Team with my uncle they told me I had 30 days to come back without going through orientation again . You mentioned Crete earlier , they have a Lowe's Dedicated but I don't know if it's for your area but I live in East Texas and 20 miles from the Lowe's Distribution Center here that could be good for getting home as well as NFI here picks up loads from the Distribution Center and delivers to the stores. I can't get these jobs right now because until August I have two personal accidents on my record and they go back five years, I just had one with someone that boning me but I I was at fault because I had a red flashing even though they were playing Nascar so that makes 2 in past five years .

Well if some drivers would read, it says not for parking right on the button lol, my ex co driver did that. Not only do you not use for parking but it also can ruin back tires from being used that way. Good advice, not many people new will think of that.

I always set the trailer brakes just for security purposes of having the extra set of brakes holding the truck. But now that you guys have said something sure enough right on the knob it says "Not for Parking". Well I can't believe I never saw that but now I know. You learn something new everyday or you die.

You're welcome ,that's why I love this forum because you can learn from others, there are a lot of YouTube videos on winter driving to help you out and let you know of some things to keep in your truck in case of getting stuck and keeping warm .Roteck Thanks this.

Sometimes the best learning experience is from failing and than learning from your mistakes . Find a walk away lease and see what you can make of it . Im a dreamer and risk taker and believe in a " all in " approach . Do whats in your heart , a lot of ppl on this forum cant make heads or tails of what they are doing and will quickly tell you its to hard your gonna fail . Calculate the risk and make a move when your ready . Good luck , been there done that !
Bosscity318 and Roteck Thank this. -
