Lazy reporters converting email press-release into a "news" story. The regulation is still in effect until it's blocked. Some group ASKING for a change isn't the same as regulation removed.

Like every past president the countdown is ticking for all of their supporters changing from "He will fix everything" to "well, it could have been worse."

I drive a '99, so it doesn't affect me on the elog deal, but I'd sure like to see Trump get rid of this mandate crap. If a person or company wants to run them for convenience, I'm all for it. But it should not be forced.

It isn't important as other issues, like EPA and CARB.

The article stating that loading and unloading time is where the bulk of HOS non-compliance occurs is a joke.

We all know if you're going to lie on your logs it's going to be driving time, you know, when you're making money, not loading and unloading. Unless of course you claimed 6 hours load time and it was actually 2 and you used the other 4 to drive longer.

I know a lot of people are not a fan of elogs. I'm not quite sure why. I can understand if you disagree with the HoS rules but...the only reason I can see to disagree with the elogs is it makes it much much harder to cheat the system.

Not being a driver yet maybe there is something I'm missing here?

Yeah, that it aint free to implement -- and that 5,000 truck companies get a much better price on elogs than an independent. Just one of a long line of regulations that stacks the deck in favor of big business.

Understood. But I guess I was more thinking from a drivers perspective ;)

Edit: And I just now noticed this was posted in the O/O forum....do I feel stupid? Yes, yes I do.

It's an issue, another thing is livestock haulers aren't bound by them but are bound by the rules, ie. a log that is by the rules in effect.

But if Idl drive a tractor so equipped and would happen to haul live cargo, would I be bound to use the rods recording device?

Just be simpler to leave it as is, paper is less hassle for those experienced, and less expensive for small operations.(number of units)

Until the cost factor is settled once and for all, the ratio of cost to benefits is not to be finally determined for any given operation.

Real winner if this goes to forced implementation is the providers of hardware and service.
